    Windows XP Update options greyed out

    All of the options in system properties, windows update are greyed out and can't make changes. I have XP Pro SP2. I am logged on with admin rights. Last thing I installed was Office 2007. Download but install when I choose is selected ( but greyed ). Update tray icon has disappeared. Thanks
