We use Backup Exec 11d and Exchange 2000. I am trying to restore an individual mailbox from a backup of the entire mail store. The reason is that the user destroyed all of his PST files prior to leaving the company. Is there a way to do that or am I out of luck?
We use Exchange 2000 and have Symantec Backup Exec 11d. There is a former employee that destroyed all his Outlook PST files before leaving us and now I am trying to restore his mailbox. I've got a backup of the entire Exchange store on tape. I think I know the answer here but is there any way...
I have setup NTP on our Cisco 2801 but for some reason the time on our PCs here is still not correct (it's about 5 minutes fast). Here's what I have in the 2801 config for NTP:
scheduler allocate 20000 1000
ntp clock-period 17178933
ntp update-calendar
ntp server XX.XXX.XXX.X
Am I missing...
I've setup an internal FTP server on our network at work. I tested it internally and it worked fine. Then I created a sub domain with our hosting commpany and forwarded the public IP to the server through our Cisco 2801 with NAT. I can login to it from outside our network with a command prompt...

I have a Cisco 2801 Router where I'm located and we have a site to site VPN tunnel that connects us to a different location that has a Cisco PIX 506E. This weekend we are switching ISP's so I will have a new set of public IP addresses. After I change my router's config the config on the Cisco...

I've got an issue that seems to be happening more and more frequently. We run Exchange 2000 on a Windows 2000 DC. My users use both Outlook 2003 and 2007. I keep hearing that users cannot connect to Exchange upon first opening up Outlook and the only way to fix it seems to be to reboot their PC...
I am a system admin and I have a strange issue with one of my users. She has Outlook 2007 and we run Exchange 2000. About every other day when she comes in she cannot get into outlook because it says the exchnage server is offline. She is the only person with this problem. I tried running a...
We are switching ISP's at work and since I haven't been through this proccess before I'm trying to be sure it goes as smoothly as possible. We have several public IP's tied to our exchange server, VPN, etc so I'll be assigning new ones from the new ISP. As of now this is what I know needs to be...
I currently have a public IP address assigned to a sub domain of ours (abc.ourdomain.com) and want to create a different sub domain (123.ourdomain.com) with the same public IP address. Both sub domains would point to the same server but on different ports of course. Is this possible? Will my ISP...
After changing the hostname on a Linux Red Hat Enterprise 4 server it will no longer boot up... it just hangs at "enabling swap space". I'm guessing the services cannot start at this point because of some problem with the hostname. I have tried using the install disk to boot from that and fix...
Has anyone here been through this upgrade yet? I guess I assumed it wasn't too bad until I started reading through the documentation and see that there are all kinds of things that need to be done to the Symantec System Console before you can even get to the actual install. Is the documentation...
I have someone using an AT&T Blackjack PDA and he is inquiring about using MS ActiveSync on our Exchange 2000 server so he can access OWA. Is MS ActiveSync compatible with Exchange 2000? He claims it must have MS ActiveSync 4.2 or higher.
I've got a user who gets a ton of e-mails and has a lot of the older ones archived but his archive file is getting somewhat out of control. I believe it's somewhere around 5 GB. He's trying to archive more e-mails but he's getting error messages and I'm guessing it's due to the size of the...
I'm trying to install a Cisco VPN client (tried the most recent BETA client and the client before that for Vista) and it keeps saying that the DNE requires a reboot first to free up locked resources and to run the install after rebooting. But with each reboot I keep getting this same message...
We run Outlook 2003/2007 and Exchange 2000. We have a shared calendar for one of of conference rooms. I had someone who had permissions issues with it (she could create but not delete items) so I changed the password for the calendar username in AD. Then I logged into outlook as that username...
I think I might be out of luck here but I thought I'd at least check and see. We run Exchange 2000 on a Windows 2000 DC. I deleted and purged a mailbox and now I would like to recover it. In my settings for Backup Exec I don't have it setup to restore individual mailboxes and e-mails, just the...
I've got a windows 2000 and 2003 server that I want to create backup images of as part of a disaster recovery plan. I am familiar with Norton Ghost but I recently found out that the standard version of Ghost will not work with servers. What do most of you use to create backup images of your...
All of a sudden I have someone who is receiving two copies of every single e-mail... both internal and external e-mails. I've had her try the obvious like reboot and reopen outlook but it's still the same. She said she does not have outlook open anywhere else. Any idea what would cause duplicate...
