    Shutdown Catalyst 6509 PSU remotely

Does anyone know if it's possible to shutdown one of the power supplies in a Catalyst 6509 running CatOS 6.4 from the CLI? I looked at the "set module power down" command but it doesn't look like that will work.

    Solaris 10 memory issue

I recently upgraded one of our development V440s from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10 (update 9). The system has 4 X 1.6GHz CPUs, 8GB of RAM, an 8GB swap partition on the internal boot disk and a 20GB swap file on a SAN disk. One of the developers reported that a test that starts 1001 processes slows...

    Nsrclone process

Is there a benefit to cloning a tape by individual ssid vs. cloning the entire tape? I am asking because we have now run backups to a VTL and dump data to tape via a script that clones the VTL tapes by ssid. Once the data has been dumped to tape we clear the VTL tapes for the next backup by...

    Jbconfig not seeing VTL

I am attempting to add a second Sepaton virtual tape library to our Solaris 9 (Sun Fire V440) Networker (7.2.2) server. I did not add the first Sepaton VTL so I am rather new at this. Both Sepatons and the V440 are connected to a Brocade switch which which is zoned. I am able to see the new...

    Upgrade networker server

We are upgrading our Solaris Networker server with a newer machine. The original server is running 7.1.1. I have installed 7.2.1 on the new machine. I know that I will need to contact EMC to get new authorization codes but what is the easiest way to move the indexes, groups and other...

    AIX C Compiler

I have been asked to move the IBM C Compiler from AIX 5.1 to 5.3 on our multi-boot 7044-270 system. Can this be done without the C Compiler media? I can't find it with our AIX 5.1 CDs.

Need assistance adding host to FC4700

I am attempting to add an additional host to our FC4700. The host is a SunFireV440 running Solaris 9 with a single QLogic 2340 HBA. Problem adding new SAN disk

I just added a 10GB SAN disk to our 7044-270 running 5.1. The disk is hdisk6. I am attempting to add it to an existing volume group called sanvg and mount it as /sanperf. Here is what I did. Am I missing something simple here? I don't have a lot of experience with AIX as we are primarily a Sun...

    Navisphere access through a firewall

We are getting "unable to access security information" when attempting to access Navisphere on our 4700 SPs via a browser. This message pops up after the Navisphere splash screen just before the login screen. I am pretty sure this is firewall related as this worked prior to recent ACL changes...

    Slow boot on 7044-270

We have a 7044-270 that takes 15 minutes to reboot. I powered off the server, connected to a serial port and found that fastboot was already enabled in the service processor menu. I didn't see anything else in any of the service processor menus that could cause the slow boot. I don't think this...

I had a brief power outage in my home lab and my 2621 displayed the below message after it restarted. Does this look like the flash has become corrupt? If so what do I need to do to correct this? System Bootstrap, Version 11.3(2)XA4, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1) Copyright (c) 1999 by cisco Systems...

    Command line equivalent for GUI

Is there a way to add and remove clients from groups via the command line on a Solaris networker server? Information on creating new clients and restarting group backups from a command-line would also be helpful. Displaying the GUI accross a WAN can be very slow.

I am new to AIX and am attempting to setup a new eServer P5 9110. Can I use one of the HMC ports on the back of the server for a console connection (like a Sunbox or Cisco switch)? If so what type of cable do I need? I tried connecting via a Cisco rollover cable connected to a laptop. I also...

What is the purpose of the empty XXX.lun file?

The Solaris hosts connected to our FC4700 have an empty <LUN mountpoint>.lun within each LUN. One LUN was recently moved from one host to another but it is missing the .lun file. All of the data seems to be on the LUN. Is this significant? What is the purpose of the .lun file?
