If I'm running Windows 2K3 Server on a machine behind a router, and want to enable VPN access without just setting the server as a DMZ, can anyone tell me what ports I need to tell the router to forward to this specific server?
Thanks!
We're running windows 2003 server at one site, and 2000 at another. Most of our users stay within their site, but a few move between the two.
When a user who typically works at Site A logs in at Site B, the computer hangs pretty badly with everything they do. I'm assuming that's because their...
We are running a Windows 2000 Server and many of our clients are running Windows XP Pro. It seems that group policy objects set on the server are not all running correctly on the XP machines.
From the best I can tell, any policy that writes a registry key is working fine, but any policy that...
We are running a Windows 2000 Server and have recently installed Kerio Mail Server. When we try to run webmail, the interface loads correctly when we use an internal IP address, but when we use the IP address assigned to us by our ISP, it times out without loading each time.
Any idea if I might...
We're running Windows 2000 Server and use roaming profiles and folder redirection. On each machine a user logs into, though, it stores copies of their profiles. This is filling up hard drives and may be slowing machines down (?).
Is there any way to set the computers not to do this?
Thanks!
I have to upgrade many machines to sp2. Is it possible to only run windows update on one of them to actually download the files? It will take forever if they all have to pull the files down off the internet.
Can I just download on one, and then have them all read from there? If it helps we're...
We've recently set up an active directory domain, and now the client computers all show that their hard disks are 100 MB. This isn't right, and it shows 100 MB for all users - but different space used amounts. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of that 100 mb limit?
Thanks!
Someone dropped off a machine that after a power outage did not work. When you press the power button, nothing happens. I opened it up, and one LED on the motherboard lights up, so I'm assuming the problem isn't the power source. Any other ideas to get this up and running?
Thanks!
We're running two facilities with two Domain Controllers. For staff that are usually at building A, folders are redirected to the server in that building, and likewise for building B.
DNS on the comptuers seems to be set up correctly, and general login doesn't take too long. However, opening...
We're running Windows 2000 server. Is there a way to stop people from being able to log onto two computers at the same time? Also, is there a way to boot a user off, and have the computer log out if they foget to log themselves off when they leave?
Thanks!
We have two buildings with our company, and are working on deploying a domain for all users. We have folder redirection set up for the start menu, app data, documents, and desktop. For users who are usually in building A, their profiles/data are stored on a server in building A, and those in...
We are using roaming profiles for our staff, but each staff member needs to be able to open a specific file on their computers - but it's a different file per computer.
For instance, if Bob is using ComputerA, he needs to open the file on ComputerA's C drive. If he's on ComputerD, he needs the...
I want to set up our users to have their documents folders actually reside on the server, and just have the client machines read from the server. I have group policy set up to redirect the folder to \\serveii\roam\docs\%user%
However, the first user who logs in, it works for. All others then...
We're running Windows 2000 Server and would like to add a proxy server to the internet that can track where employees are going online, block sites, etc. Can anyone recommend a good program to add to the server? It can run on the same server or a seperate one.
Thanks!
I'm still learning my job here, and am pretty clueless on how to write a login script for Windows 2000 server. Does anyone know of a good resource I can find online to figure all this out?
Thanks!!
I have a Domain Controller setup on a new domain (domain.local), but when I try to add an additional domain controller, I get an error saying that it can't locate a domain controller for the domain.local domain. It goes on to mention to make sure DNS settings are correct.
I'm pretty new to all...
We have a small network, and we don't use a real DNS name. The first domain controller works fine. However, when I go to set up a second controller, I can't seem to get past the error that it can't find the DNS server. If I hit the "browse" button, the domain shows up, but when I select it and...
I'm pretty new to this, but have a Domain Controller set up in one building of a two building facility. Is it possible to set up an additional DC in our other building, but keep all users and settings such as group policy idential on both controllers? We have people that travel back and forth...
I have recently set up group policy on our system, and it seems now users that try to get into the local network get a message that says "Access to the resource "My Network Places" has been disallowed."
I have been through my group policy and can't figure out where I messed up on that one. Can...
