If you have the CD, you can upload the software from your personal computer using the LSP's maintenance page. When you click on the 'upgrade software' link, the browser should find the new software. Assuming you aren't enabling any new features, a new license file is not necessary. For tips...
Make sure you're using the correct process. You shouldn't have to start ppp after you've logged in.

Translations were copied over during the first upgrade. The purpose of making the upgrade permanent is to specify which partition on the hard drive the system will boot into.
In other words, your translations are fine, and making the upgrade permanent will not affect them.

What release of software do you have? That 'feature' is not used in CM 2.0 and higher. The odds of it working were spotty at best anyway.

The command is 'camp-on busy (object)'. Assuming you ran this command on a DS-1 board, it would immediately busy in channels not in use. As active channels become available (calls already up when the command was run are completed), the channels are also busied.
It's a way to busy a board...
MenaceEnnis, S8700 series servers are not proprietary hardware, they are Intel based servers.
In addition, and please correct if I am wrong, but I don't believe that Cisco has a current migration strategy for phone systems. It's a rip and replace proposition.

If the LSP is registered, the 8300 won't do much of anything. It's purpose is for when the LSP is not registered. Could you be more precise as to the meaning of "not working"?

You can't be sure of a hardware fault without rebooting, as another possibility could be drivers for the board got screwed somehow. Do you have shell access to the S8710? If so, busy the standby and run the command testdupboard command on it. You can also run the test on the active...
