    The drive itself is fine. But it does seem that there are bad sectors now. A power surge hit it last week and then today the comp randomly froze and when I shut down it just didn't work right when I got it back up. Thanks for your help.

    Cache or GHz?

    It seems that the socket 939 3500+ is the way to go then. I hadn't yet read anything about the difference between the socket types. The 3500+ is only two dollars MORE than the 3400+ at Newegg now. So definitely the 3500+. Thank you all.

    For me, Crucial has always beent the most efficient. Although for performance memory (Corsair) Newegg is defintely the way to go.
