Problem is the system is so old, and not all that critical, so there is no maintainance contract and getting any money for it is tough (city agency). Thats why I, like many others, have been trying to deal with a 10 year old PBX with no formal training. While this is far from the way it should...
OK,
This is going to be a challange because the system seems to be running fine, but since I do not have access to any replacement parts I will need to call a vendor and the boss will question the expense since all seems to be running well.. At least I can refer to the advice of a very...
Greetings oh great masters of sage knowledge..
All seems to be working well with our opt 11C but I am getting DTC003 messages every few minutes..
DTC0003 Clock controller cannot be accessed.
My Questions are:
1. How critical is this (and are my counter settings in LD 73 acceptable),
2. Is...
On second try (after getting the settings right) I got the hardwire terminal to talk to the switch though both TTY 0 and TTY 2, so I focused next on the modem. After some effort I got the modem configured again and now all is working again.
And now that it is working I think I will trash the...
Well I am still messing with this problem. I carefully reloaded all the modem settings (after finally finding a serial cable) but still can't get anything. I am beginning to think that the modem has a problem. Its a Robotics 33 k so the settings in the FAQ do not match up 100%, but I think I...
Hey John.. I knew I could count on you to respond..
Never had a problem with Hyperterm before but I have seen some posts that said it could cause a disable.
The HWLCK message might have been partialy garbled.. I entered what I saw.
I did in fact power off/on the modem and also "enl tty 0"...
Was just finishing up changing some names on a few dig sets when my Hyperterminal session showed -1 HWLCK=NULL
And after that I could get nothing on the screen. Port 1 on the hardwire TTY works fine so I was able to disable and re-enable the port to the modem. I also reset the modem, etc. I...
Yes some are ACD. Since my intent was to match a TN to a physical jack, and I can do that now, I think I will stay away from such large scale changes for now.. I'll save the script for reference though.
Is JK a standard notation for DES fields? At first I thought it was a jack number but there...
Another downside of doing this for only as a minor part time gig is that I have no equipment or knowledge of how the system was set up.
Any idea how I can translate the DES's listed below (in the first column: (Turns out that only ONE DES has the jack number! GRRR)

I wish I could make my job easier, but admin-ing this system is not my job I am just doing the little things that I can to save the company from hiring the vendor for everything little thing (sorry to you vendors, you deserve to be paid!)
Thats what I thought, but a very few of ours have labels that match the jack ID (ie V34 for example) which helps me a lot! but others have something like JK18 with about 22 TNs showing the same DES. This helps me not!
If anyone would care to take a moment and explain in plain speak the meaning of Office Data Administration System Station Designator (DES) and how it should be used on an Opt 11c.. TIA
Got it! I was just to shy to out something without checking first. Outing can be a problem is some circles.
And as for the hair, its to late either way..
THANKS
I get an error with the easy change method.. I will try to our the ACDn first and see if that works. Man the reponse to my post was within seconds! You guys rock.
When I did this:

Hello all and a million thanks for all you have already taught me.
Another noop here trying to do a few of the simplier things for my boss (opt 11C system with 85 employees in the company)
We have ~40 users with nothing more than voice mail (ACDNs) but I want to give an existing phone to one of...
