    hi the problem has been resolved. I had to reinstall the Oracle Client on the PC.Export and Import files were copied and it worked. of course I had to rename the old famous file SYMCJIT.DLL before installing it. I just want to say thanks guys. no I can go home with few less things to worry about.

    this is the value in ORACLE_HOME in regedit command c:\orant I submitted another post a while ago, in which I mentioned that I could not find the EXP and IMP files on my PC so I copied them from the another server with 8.1.7 database. this may help you help me. thanks

    thanks for your quick reply I tried it and got the follwoing : invalid format of export utility name verify that ORACLE_HOME is set properly any help?

    I have a problem starting the export from a windows client.
