    bcaster, Yes, the "Registry hive cleanup" service did fix the problem. I hate having another friken service running on my system but this one (in my case) does more good than harm. Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

    False alarm. Recreating the pagefile only fixed the problem temporarily. The "saving your settings..." hang problem persists! Sorry 'bout that.
