So would it be easier to compromise the computer if the computer is connected to a public Wi-Fi hotspot with the computer getting a private ip, or if it is connected to a wired connection with a public ip?
I think my intial post needs some clarification.
I am looking at this purely from the perspective of "Should we let laptop users use wireless connections when they are travelling or at home?"
They would connect to a VPN once the internet connection has been established.
I don't think the Linksys is going to let you do 2 SSIDs, it is more of a SOHO device, and you are getting more complex than that. RADIUS is the way to go for security and management if you already have a Windows domain. It is quite a bit more secure than having a PSK since I think it uses...
Hello,
I am curious to find out what other think of the potential for security breaches when a laptop user uses an unsecured wireless connection vs. connecting to an unsecured wired LAN or directly to the internet.
I am arguing that when you are out in the world with your laptop, that it is...
Hello,
I am curious, do all the domain controllers in the domain need to be DNS servers also? Is there any pros or cons either way? We have 3 domain controllers and I was thinking that we probably only needed DNS running on 2 of the 3; they are all on the same LAN. A co-worker thinks that DNS...
Do i need my ISP to supply a perimeter router configured with an outside IP address?
You only need an ethernet connection of some sort depending on what kind of circuit you are bringing in. If you get a T1 then you will need a router with a CSU/DSU card in it to plug the T1 into. If you get...
Ahhh, Have not done that yet, will give it a try tonight. It had just thrown off one of my co-workers because we had a line down and they had always been instructed to check the sh int on the hub router.
Thanks

Hello,
I recently moved our Frame network to a MPLS.
I had a bunch of sub interfaces that were no longer in use so I deleted them using the no interface hssi0/0.x command, however they still show up when I use the show interface command. Is there a way to remove all traces of them?
Thanks
Leon
Ok, I got what I was originally looking for. I needed the command
management-access inside
Here is the link to the command reference at cisco

Anyway so I can now manage the...
Hello all,
So I dropped this task for a while and am now back at it. I am still having no success with remote administration through the ezvpn, though the ezvpn works fine. I before proceeding further, I will pose this question. Would I be secure enough to just set up ssh from a specified ip...
Hello,
Thanks finde for the post, that helped me with the samr error. I wanted to just add on here that for Outlook 2003 they moved the folder. It is a folder type of --Folder containing Note Items-- and it is called --PocketMirror--. It lives at the same level as the --Notes-- folder. If...
LloydSev,
Hello and thanks for the reply, your reputation preceeds you. :-)
I have the sysopt command in already but do I do the "ssh x.x.x.x 255.255.255.255 inside" or "ssh x.x.x.x 255.255.255.255 outside"?
Thanks
Leon
Hello,
I wanted to set up a PIX 501 as an easy VPN server and then connect via the easy VPN and then SSH into the PIX from there using the VPN address of client machine. Has anyone done this or know if it is possible? Would I enable the ssh on the inside interface or outside interface?
TIA
Hello, I'm fairly new to this stuff, but maybe I can stir up ideas. For PC1 I'm not sure that should work since it is already "outside". For PC2 can it hit the Router?
So my inexprience was shining here for sure. I had a beer and went back and did some reading and look at some sample configs. Turns out I just had on of my cryptomap access-list entries backwards. The solution ended up being this.
To the existing config added these lines on PIX1
access-list...
I just checked out the Whatsup Premium and it looks very nice, especially for the price. We have already purchased servers alive though so this will have to wait until next year or so, although I still hope to demo whatsup. Thanks for the recommendations!
Can you post your config, that looks like it should work, provided 10.100.100.0/24 is your inside network and you have the default route out set. Read the posting config faq first so you can post your config cleanly.
