when you get some time, give debian a serious trial. I think you will be pleased! Some files/configs are in different locations than RPM based distro's, but hang in there and give it a try.
The philosophy behind the Debian distro is also more of a SFS purist attitude, I think.

I have used the proxy program from analogx.com to share internet connections. configure the browser to use a proxy and point it to the machine running the proxy program. This might work to share with linux machine, but, it looks like you already have fixed the problem.
Most of our desktops are running Win98 and office 97. Outlook is configured to work with ourExchange server 5.5 and to use internet email. On one particular PC, the sent messages are not being sent to the "Sent Items" folder even though the box is checked to do just that.
