You only need to worry about the OS and drive array configuration matching, don't be too concerned about the mother boards, back planes, RAID cards being identical. As long as the 2 servers present their storage arrays in the same format and volume sizes you should be OK.
If it was me I would...
I believe it is technically possible but it is a really bad idea - you are opening the door to loads of potential problems with a configuration like that.
All servers in a cluster should be as identical as possible to minimise the potential for introducing issues. I would always spend the...
Hello, and thanks in advance for any answers.
I need to find a balance of permissions on our file server to allow users only the rights below:
- Copy a new file into a folder
- Open and read any file in the folder
- Make a save-as copy of any file into the same folder
The idea behind...
Well that explains it - we are restricted to IE 6 here. Thanks for the prompt answer Simon.
From your response it sounds like logging has to be enabled at the application end, rather than being something that can be selectively switched on/off from Windows event viewer. Is that correct...
Hello,
How can I add Internet Explorer into the list of applications that log their activities and errors into a log file viewable through the XP Event Viewer along with Application, Security and System? Some otherwise identically imaged PCs in the company have IE (and other applications) in...

Thanks cmeagan656, that has solved the printing problem!
For the record (and for anybody reading this in the future) the solution is to delete the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security. The key in question is "OutlookSecureTempFolder ".

Thanks for the response.
I have run detect and repair without improvement, and SP isn't installed because, well it just isn't yet! I will get onto this today.
If I am completely honest issue #1 is not really much of a concern, but issue #2 is a real problem.
Thanks
Mike,
I can't shed any light on this myself, but try looking in the "Microsoft SQL Server: Setup and Administration" forum. You might get your answer there.
Hello all,
I have a fresh installation of XP (SP2) and Office 2003 (SP2) and have 2 linked issues with HTML emails.
1 - Print Preview doesn't work.
a - The Print Preview option is not available when an HTML email is open on screen (greyed out)
b - Selecting the email in question from the...
I can get conditional formatting to work on a single selected cell, but not for a range of cells based on a null value in another cell.
What I need is something like:
- If A6 is null then do nothing
- If A6 is not null then the font for A1 to A6 is Arial strikethrough
I've tried all the...
Hello,
I have been struggling with getting Excel 2003 and Excel 2007 to conditionally format the font of a cell if another cell on the same row is empty.
For example, if cells A1 to A5 are filled with a mixture of data types (text, date, numbers, etc) and cell A6 is null then the font for...
Hello,
I am trying to convince MSCRM to calculate an elapsed time value from the create date/time of a case through to either the current date/time (for non-closed cases) or the resolved date/time (for closed cases).
Complicating this is the need to be able to stop the timer incrementing when...
All other users are able to print without a problem and I've tried reinstalling the driver several times (Microsoft and HP drivers) without sucess. This problem occurs on all printing - Word, Excel, notepad, there is no difference.
