Have you verified that the HBA's are supported for the level of OS you're attempting to install?

Agree on the firmware advice. if the box is not at the latest and you try to install 5.3 you get some funkiness with the box's NVRAM. it's been a few years since i have used SSA drives, but when we did have them, they were in drawers external to the host, accessed via an HBA and some cables...

well i can't give you the technical details because i can't remember them, been a while since i've dealt with this issue, but it has to do with the buffer sizes that nfs uses amoungst other things. ftp is the way to go for just moving your stuff around as fast as possible.

in it's basic form, nfs is a simple way to go about this, but it's one of your slower methods of file copying.

...the thread and now, was a unrelated power cycle of the equipment including the desktop i was using to communicate with the HMC. the console windows now pop up as i would expect. although there appears to be more lag time involved when using it when compared to version 6.*'s. not a biggie tho.
