I do not htink you are supposed to enter any of that for anactive directory. Only the servername:389 That is how it works for Reportnet Cognos Configuration. I have tried it and it works..but again for cognos cofiguration for Reportnet.

Got it!!! I recently installed the Windows XP SP2. The new firewall settings was not allowing the connection. I had to upgrade my SQL SERVER to service pack to 3a and had to add exceptions in the windows firewall settings. Thank you all Swetab Sharma.
