You can always format the machine and start over. Here is how I format and reload Windows 98:

If you have the driver disks from the origional load of your computer you should be fine, I would search the net for all the drivers before I blew my machine away to reload...
try this.......hold down alt key, then hit print screen key. This will copy the screen picture. now go to paint and paste it then print it from paint. contact: Boo on ICQ #65890908

boot to DOS with the startup disk with cd-rom support
do these steps:
A:\format c: /s
after format is complete:
c:c:\md win98
(cd-rom letter)d:d:\cd win98
d:\win98 copy *.* c:\win98
c:c:\cd win98
c:\win98\setup
and your off and loading windows from the harddrive...

you can put a "power on password" on the machine by going in to the BIOS setup as the machine is just starting to boot.....this password will prevent the machine from booting to windows until entered you may contact me on ICQ (Boo)#65890908
at the desktop hit F3.....do a search on the C: drive for *.pwl this should find the windows passwords on the system. Delete the files found on the search and then try to change it.....

It was a virus....W95.mtx worm virus.......I went to www.norton.com and looked up the virus and followed the directions for removal.....it was aggravating to remove
