Hi,
I found part of the problem with both Word Perfect and MS Word. Temp Files. For some reason neither program clears their temp files properly. Also, the person had installed Symantec's Internet Security as well. This was preventing her from connecting to the online files needed to run...
Hi,
One of our Home Transcriptionists is using Novell Word Perfect 6.1 for Windows and when she tries to start it she gets the following error.
Error. Cannot Initialize. And an Ok Button.
We use Macros to automate the program from within another Application. Even when she tries to run it...
Thanks Guys.
I was poking around with the file and can open it with wordpad. It has a lot of junk up top, but the data is visible. I use a program that I've written with QuickBasic that takes some exported text files and cleans up the extra blank lines and "garbage" text. I did a...
...it into Access. Unfortunatley due to HIPPA regulations, I can't post the file here. It comes from something called SoftMed. It's extension is *.pdb. I can open the file in notepad. I'm still experimenting with it. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,
I have a database that uses many linked text files and dbf files. The files are updated many times a day, and I'd like to have their links updated everytime I run the database.
I know how to run the Linked Table Manager myself, but some of the other users aren't too computer literate...
Hi,
Sorry but I can't help you with your problem, but I did want to ask you a question.
Have you had any display problems?
My Internet Explorer window will not maximize to the top of the screen. It sits about the height of the title bar down from the top, with the desktop visible beneath...
Hi,

I have to convert a series of ascii text documents to Word 97 format. I know I can set the font in the wizard. I've done this already, but now I have to find a way of getting the text formatting right. The ascii document is 68 characters per line...
That's along the lines of what I need. I have to have the Both names in the same field as this is a legacy database converted to Access. I may eventually get around to changing the fields, but that is another project.
What I need to do is search for one of multiple...
Hi,
I have a group of typists who type for different hospitals. Some typists work for more than one hospital.
When our payroll clerk enters the number of reports typed by each typist I want to be able either limit the combo box of hospitals to that specific typist, or list all the...

I have thought of a way to do this. I must have been suffering from a temporary blockage. I have a table that contains the employee's names and addresses as well as employee number. The table I'm printing from has the employee number as well. I can build a query to lookup the names based on...
Hi,

I have a database that has a persons name in one field. It's in first name last name order. I need to print the list in last name order. I don't want to break up the field if I can avoid it. Most of my reports are sorted on a different field, but 3 reports will use the last...
Have you tried to re-install the program? I had this happen to me a while ago. I ended up downloading a fix from the Knowledge Base. It's a small program that re-registers Access in your Registry. How-ever I cannot recall the url for it at this time. Sorry.
Hi,
This may be a silly question, but.........
I know that Access 97 has a query to find duplicate records in a database. How would I go about having it delete those duplicates? One of my users has a Billing program that is built on dbf files using clipper. It's not y2k...

I think I've got it working finally. I had to boot to DOS, remove both win98 & MS Office 97 exe, dll, vxd files, then re-installed both. I had to rid my computer of that SR2 release 1 patch that someone had installed on my machine.
Everything works now. I just...

Thanks. I noticed that it didn't give me as much of a problem as before. That SR-2 release 1, really screwed up my system. I had to boot to DOS, delete out all dll's, vxd's and exe's in both the windows and system directories. I also deleted most of Office 97 to be safe.
...
Is there a safe way to change the normal template? I need to import text into word and have it use Arial 11. I changed the Plain Text style to Arial 11, but my word would keep locking up.
I renamed the Normal.dot files to *.old, and the machine still locked up, but it finally did reboot into windows after many ctrl-alt-del's. When I go to change the plain text style font to Arial 11, I can save and try to exit word, but it locks up and goes to that same DOS shut down screen...
