    TCM vs. TPM

I think you've hit the nail on the head. We are an existing TCM shop that is evaluating TPM. While there are some very nice features, because TPM is a radical departure from the TCM line, there are things that are missing. We've put a good deal of development into integrating TCM with our...

    TCM vs. TPM

Now that TCM's days are numbered, how many of you have looked at Tivoli Provisioning Manager (TPM) and what are your impressions?

    Profile Manager recommendation

We're in the process of redesigning the layout of our TMR, and a question has come up regarding the maximimum number of profiles per profile manager. Has anyone seen a recommended number of profiles for a single profile manager or have you experienced any issues with too many profiles?

    windows services question

It's up to you. What I mean is your system configuration determines who can stop and start a service and what happens when a service fails.

    Tivoli / IBM Director integration

I've read that the IBM Director client integrates with Tivoli, but I've never heard of anyone actually doing this. We have the Director client installed in our environment, and we also use Tivoli. I'm just wondering : 1. What tangible benefits would be realized by integrating the two. 2. What...

    IBM Rack

We looked at IBM's console switches, but we run a "lights out" datacenter, so we went with Avocent DSView. The mouse movement takes a little getting used to, but I can connect from anywhere.

    Printer driver was not installed.

Update: Spent better than a week with MS on this without resolution. I gave up and just created the queue on another server.

    Printer driver was not installed.

I am having trouble installing a network printer on a particular Windows 2000 server (ServerX). I can create a print queue for this printer on any other W2k server, and I can create a print queue for any other type of printer on ServerX. I receive this error message at the completion of the...

    IBM Rack

I was a little dissapointed with our IBM racks...until we bought another brand. They are actually quite sturdy. I just don't care for 'universal' racks. The adjustable rails really cause more problems than they resolve.

    RSA II

It's not an option on the RSA II that I can see.

    RSA II

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the administrator password on an IBM RSA II card remotely (either through the CLI or HTTP)?

    VRM problems

In our case, we do get the alert from Director (v4.12) and it also appears in the SP error log.

    VRM problems

My mistake, they are 225's. The VRM's are being replaced by IBM, so I'm sure they are the right part number. That is exactly the problem. If the VRM's weren't integrated on the planar, it would be simple to swap them out. But as it is, it requires a complete planar swap out.

    VRM problems

We've been experiencing a high rate of VRM problems with our IBM x235 (8647xxx) servers. IBM indicates that the earlier versions of the system board have higher rates of VRM problems.

    Digitizing board

I'm looking for feedback on digitizers. Primarily in relation to architectural drawing.

    Maximum host file entries?

We're researching some methods for getting around some sticky name resolution problems. More or less research at this point. Thanks.

    Maximum host file entries?

Has anyone ever seen a published or recommended limit to the number of entries in a host file on a Windows XP Pro workstation?

    Arcserve2000 prob

According to CA's support site, you should check the Arcserve\database folder for any r*.* files. Stop the Arcserve engines and delete them, then restart the engines. If you still receive the same errors, it's probably a licensing issue.
