How to set up two line fax machine

Ok I think I understand this. Also there would just be one DID involved. That DID should just ring whichever fax line is open. Sounds like I could just do one hunt group in that case then. Also hunt group, is that the same as a calling group? Looks like I need to take the DID, put in in a...

How to set up two line fax machine

We just got a new fax machine that can answer and send faxes over two lines. Right now I just have one fax line set up on a T/R analog card. There is a DID assigned to that extension. What I want to do is add a second line but have it assigned to that DID. Basically when someone tries to...

    SMDR Reporting Software - Magix

I use kiwi syslog and kiwi harvester to keep logs of calls. kiwi harvester converts the serial port data and sends it via syslog. Kiwi syslog records it down in logs broken up by date. No reporting here though, just logging. Not real user friendly but its a good free option for anyone who...

How to set up not a working # recording on unused DIDs

Thanks for all the replies. It was getting the "DID#?" showing up on the screen as mentioned. I decided to go the 'return fast busy' route and it is working great. If one of those numbers is called it now gets the telco's "this number is no longer in service" message. Thanks again!

How to set up not a working # recording on unused DIDs

We just swithed carriers for the PRI our phone system uses. The new provider set us up on a plan that comes with an extra 100 dids. So far we have only used two of those. Is there a good way to direct the unused DIDs to a recording that will inform the call that they have reached an unworking...

    Setting up smart host relay

Thanks for the advice. I think I am going to go ahead and go with putting the relay on the web server, and add an extra firewall in order to put the web server in a DMZ. Your suggestion of running postfix would probably be better. I don't feel comfortable enough in my abilities in Linux to be...

    Setting up smart host relay

At the moment the company I work for has the exchange server on the internal network set up so that it directly recieves inbound smtp connections from the internet. For various reasons I am working on getting a relay set up, probably a smart host. I want to set this up on the DMZ where the web...

Security on a web server hosted offsite

I have been working on evaluating our current network security situation at our company. Part of this is in response to some problems we have been having lately. At the moment we have a DSL connection at the office that is protected by a firewall appliance made by watchguard. This connection...

Server sending out NDRs for non existent users

Thanks Again. I suppose it is a bit misdirected to place all blame on Microsoft. The high cost of keeping up to date just enough to keep from being attacked does get irriating though. I am trying out trial of a program called Open Relay Filter now that so far has completely solved the...

Server sending out NDRs for non existent users

Thanks for the link. It looks like it offers a real solution to Exchange 2003 users, but for Exchange 2000 users it just offers a reactive approach of cleaning out the mess every time it happens (which as of late we are getting hit hard several times a week). Would seem Microsoft should offer...

Server sending out NDRs for non existent users

Our server has been flooding our internet connection by sending out tons of NDRs. Spammers are sending e-mails to non-existent users at our company, random names like a dictionary attack. They forge their return address. Our server then goes sending out tons of NDRs to those forged return...

Need two phones to ring when extension dialed

We've got an employee that will be at one of two desks at any given time. We need it so either when their DID is dialed, their extension number is dialed or a call is tranferred to their extension, both phones ring at the same time. They also need to be able to pick up the call from either...

    Magix/PRI Delay in out dialing

Had the same issue when switching to PRI from a standard T1. Everyone in the office got somewhat used to the delay after a while. I did mess with the timers though and was able to make it a little better that way. I beleive it was the interdigit timers rather than the protocal timers I...

Merlin Magix and PRI through VoIP

Thanks for the responses. Was trying to get a feel for how smooth of a switchover this would be and this helps a lot. I did the programming for the PRI installed about a year ago, (with help of some docucemts from here actually) but if the company still wants to go through with this I may ask...

Merlin Magix and PRI through VoIP

Currently our company has a Merlin Magix system set up with on a standard PRI. The company is considering changing over to a company called NuVox which offers a full PRI and 768K expanding data connection delivered of a single T1 by using VoIP. I don't know the details yet on what router NuVox...

Sober worm triggering network virus detection

I have recently upgraded to Trend Micro's Client server security for SMB 3.0. Over the last couple of days its network virus scanner has been detecting worm_sober.ag being sent from our mail server internal ip to various external ips on the internet (some ips for homail.com, etc). However...

Fax machines - any way to not have to dial 9?

Hey well if that way does get a dial tone then I think I'll switch over to that. That way things are more likely to work if the company decides to add a different fax machine or modem!

Fax machines - any way to not have to dial 9?

Thanks for the replies! I tried the hotline method and it worked for me. I did have to play around with the dial string a bit to get the hotline method to work. Here is how I did it in case it may be helpful to others: Before setting the extension to hotline mode, I plugged an analog phone...

    Programming Extension:

As far as I am aware, system programming requires either an MLX-20L or 4424LD+ phone. An MLX 28D doesn't have the large screen you need. Also, about the port, you need to be using a phone that is connected to any of the ports between 1 and 5. Do you have a copy of WINSPM? If so you can...
