    dual band?

hey micker, you're saying that my g router..if i'm using a g card on one computer..and a b card on a different computer, and both computers are on (or does that make a difference), the speed of my g card will be restricted to b's speed?

    speaker problem

all the plugs are in their corresponding jacks right? and..i dunno if this'll do anything at all, but are you using the latest drivers for your sound? i believe for the majority of onboard soundcards, you can use the realtek drivers found here...

..and..just in case you didnt know..the red stripe is supposed to go into pin1 of the connector on the HD (it's usually the closer end to the power connector).

IBM HD failure - no longer recognised in BIOS

hmm..not sure if this'll help, but maybe try norton disk doctor? gee. that's such an old program..i'm sure norton's got something out for reviving dead HDs..at least long enough for you to grab most/some/a glance of what you need.. have you tried a different cable? how aobut changing from...

    dual band?

hey G0AOZ what prompted my curiosity and started this whole topic was that i came across this product description .. or one similar to it http://www.netgear.com/products/details/WAG511.php?view= in the "high speed" section, it says "..at speeds of up to 108 Mbps in turbo mode.." would you...

    SUPER slow HDD access

bleh. that HD's a nogo. i've fiddled with it long enough to realize it's got issues. i've replaced with a smaller HD, but at least that one works. hahah score one: humans! thanks for all your help guys. even the drive is now a paperweight, i've learned a lot from all your feedback. props to...

    SUPER slow HDD access

haha..funny thing about that dlgudma10 tool. i got it and ran it, but the lame drive wouldnt even pass the quick self test. arg. stupid thing. (error code 210 which is just some uninformative "self test not passed" as explained in the txt file). sound like the drive is heading towards the great...

    dual band?

ahhh. ok i guess i was totally using the wrong terminology. ;) dualband routers support 2.4GHz (b/g) as well as 5GHz (a) devices. gotcha. so if i picked one up, i can still keep all my current b and g devices and they'd work just like normal..the router wont enhance their performance, right...

    SUPER slow HDD access

or better yet..since the HD is an ultra100, does plugging it into an ultra66 force it to go at the 66 speed? or are the two utterly incompatible?

    SUPER slow HDD access

    dual band?

when you say "use both b and g"..you mean it'll combine both speeds? sorta like how the old two-jack modems worked? so it's not like how g is backwards compatible with b..but more like it'll use the g band ALONG with the b band? and if that's the case, will i need to get a dual band router as...

    dual band?

hey guys.. i was wondering if anyone out there could use plain ol english to explain what "dual band" means in terms of routers and adapters. what would be compatible with what.. and what wouldnt be. a/b/g etc etc. tanks! :) -a

    SUPER slow HDD access

actually, i dug up an old windows95 floppy and tried to format with that..to no avail. it's still plodding along at a snail's pace. i tried everything i could think of (aside from spending a pretty penny) to get this blasted HD to be read at a reasonable speed..but nada. well, doing a quick...
