Aaaah, the big "e" when she boots it up, not the power supply.
That and she put the phone close to the computer, oh yeah, hard drive.

I was clever enough to add an additional hard drive and redirect My Doc's to it...but now I am beginning to wonder if that additional hard drive killed the power supply. Gonna talk to her soon, then again, haven't heard of a power supply die with clunking sounds before...

Thanks for the reply.
Its just a cheezeball eMachine, so I doubt it has any special partitions. If it creates a 80GB I can build the rest through disk mangler. Thanks for the reply. Now I have to talk my wife through doing this 6000 miles away, any tips for that, LOL!!!

This is going to be a dumb question, here goes.
I have a 80GB EIDE hard drive in my home computer, its gone belly up...dumb question time. If I buy a 160GB EIDE hard drive and use my restore DVD will it work?
Thanks in advance,

You know I actually told her that word for word, I need to do a clean install...and I don't really have the time.
Thanks for your input.
I'll probably have to let her borrow my laptop again while I have at it.

My daughters AMD Compaq with XP SP1 has started looping, again, when it gets to the XP splash screen. I say again becuase I fixed it the last time by booting from a XP disk, and intsalled over the OS. The system was (past tense) full of spyware and the like, I cleaned it up, installed Spybot...
I'll try the ATTRIB the next time it's grayed out.
I just realized that the permissions might be hozed after all.
Thx,

Our users have roaming profiles (2000 AD + XP Pro), everything has been working well. Recently I have been having lots of complaints of missing folders, I look in the profiles share and there is the "missing" folder, only it has the hidden attribute. Now to make things that much more stranger...
DOH!!! I have never kept up with the hardware scene. Whenever I'm home (I travel all the time) I go to CompUSA and walk around in amazement.
"You can do that with computers now?" "They made something so you can do that now?" "These are that small now?"
Then I walk out and go back to my...
DOH!!! Thanks for all of the tips. If I added a PCI video do you think it would work (cheaper than dual-head).

I am using a HP530CMT workstation (XP) it comes with a onboard Intel 82856G chip video. I installed a GeForce 5500 AGP and it automatically disables the onboard and it doesn't show up in Device Manager.
Manually re-installed the onboard but it won't start with a Code 10.

Here is the problem: A few months back the old admin wanted to move the Profiles and Home folders to another server. I forget the circumstances but after the move he moved everything back. The permissions reverted to Authenticated Users modify on everything and Domain Admins full control. All...
Thanks BRPS, I'm not sure if the customer would be comfortable with that, as it's an account on the college system.

I'll try to get the code, no pop-ups, kind of like webmail. I understand that you can't publish javascript, my bad for not making the problem clear. The publish button sends his homework to the website (bulletin board), but indeed the error indicates javascript:publish
Thanks,

Greetings,
I have a user taking a online college class. He had been (past tense) able to do his work on any of our workstations, but now gets a javascript:publish error (status bar) error when trying to publish.
We are using XP SP1, IE6 SP1.
Not sure where to begin troubleshooting, I thought...
Believe it or not it works! The server has Office 2003 installed that has a scanning program, it worked.
