Mmmh ... i think that bootinfo -T does'nt work very well.
I've tried this command on a 43P 150, which i know that its platform is a chrp, and it reply me rspc
I've made a lot of NIM installation and i've always used bootinfo -p to check my platform (for example it is rspc for a 25T).
So, try...
Try to check your platform type with bootinfo -p
Then check if your machine declaration is good (chrp,rs6k or rspc) and be careful of the bi-processor option
Good luck "Unix, do you say ?"
I can help you to if you give use some info about your NIM server messages - have you for example a message like execution successful ? "Unix, it's like French : nothing is impossible"
je te conseille de formuler tes questions in english !
Je ne saurai répondre à ta question mais il y a surement quelqu'un qui connait la réponse ici (mais en anglais) "Unix, it's like French : nothing is impossible"
Hmmm...not a common problem.
I've two ideas :
+ check your platforms by typing a #bootinfo -p on your two boxes. Then check if your NIM client configuration is good (chrp, rs6k or rspc)
+ check your client's ethernet NIM configuration : cable's field should be at N/A if you use RJ45 and...
It's exactly what i've used NIM for !
Indeed, you can configure your NIM server ( after having correctly adding your AIX boxes with your NIM interface ) in order to accept a mksysb installation ; the main mksysb it's not important for the client's specific configurations files : SPOT ressource...
Try the NIM Installation Guide :

If you read it carefully, and follow it step by step, you 'll reach your goal easily.
Good luck. "Unix, it's like French : nothing is impossible"
I didn't know PuttY and i found it funny;
Besides, its own keygen is useful.
Just a little question : where does it store the known hosts ?
Thanks

Thanks for your support.
I think the problem does not depend on my modifications ;
Indeed, it's not the first time i've made this and the only changes i've made goals the write permissions for users on the root and / directories ;
But you're right, the first thing to do was to back out these...
Hi,
I've got a surprising problem with sudo on a AIX 4.3.1 box :
when i use sudo with a user, i've his message on terminal :
"Sorry, sudo must be setuid root"
Of course, i glance at /usr/local/bin and the rights are ...
---s--x--x 1 root sys 152453 22 fev 17:16 sudo
In fact...
As dlmoore says in a previous thread, i'm surprised to see how this topic is important fo a lot of people;
So, let me give some details to naveenrt :
- FastConnect is an IBM product (not free) which do exactly the same things than Samba ; see...
First, you have to understand that sftp uses dsa encryption and not the common rsa-1 key pair generated by default for ssh.
To start with, verify that you have set the right permissions for your .ssh directory (700) & for your known_hosts files (755)
Then, you have to generate dsa key pair for...
I don't know how to say this -cause it's not the first time we ask for this with Elgis (hello Elgis )- but it's absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to mount smb shares on AIX :-((
Indeed, AIX's Kernel can't allow it.
The only way is to share Windows file by NFS, with a product like Windows 2K Tools for Unix...
I've found the following on the Samba official website :
"The smbfs filesystem is a mountable SMB filesystem for Linux. It does not run on any other systems."
See http://ftp.easynet.be/samba/samba/smbfs/ for details
In fact my supposition was good : there is no way to mount smb...
Why smbmount is not implemented on AIX433??
I've a Samba server 2.2.0 on a AIX 4.3.3 box and i try to mount some shares on another AIX 4.3.3 box; but it seems to be impossible !
Maybe the AIX kernel is not able to do that...
I hope someone knows the answer cause i've not found it anywhere...
