I have a client who was running Lavasoft adaware and norton antiviurs at the same time and then tried to stop it by shutting down the pc. upon reboot they get a BSOD with a REGISTRY_ERROR and a stop error code of 0x00000051. I have found nothing on Technet in reference to this stop error...
...i found was to add a simple hub or switch inbetween the cable router and the cable modem.. this is the ONLY way i got it to work. aint dat a b*tch. ALso keep in mind, some older Nic cards will not be compatible with the new linksys routers that are now backed by cisco...that is just a FYI...

the system is probably blue screening. There is an option to stop that howevr if you cannot get into xp at all then i beleive the next step would be to format and start from scratch. try going into safemode. if you get in go to system properties, go to the advanced tab then click on setting...
a fatal eception error pretains to a memory problem. I ahve seen this once before when the hardrive is crashing, do a diagnostics on the hardrive as well as test the memory.
i would definately make sure you have a back up of needed data before you do anything else.

i am the associate of JCROU82 and i have been working on this issue,first off, cdogg, i undrestand where you are comming from and i have set up many lynksys routers before and NEVER had a problem like this.. however, after reading bcaster's post i agree with him. i kno wits not a security issue...
do you get a black screen when you boot up that says the folowing file may be missign or currupt or something like that from the config.sys or system file.... i havent sen this in a long itme but let me know i may have a fix. karlehenry@aol.com

Scan your computer for viruses, also download a program called ADAWARE. y ou can do a search in google. its freeware. im guessing that its a virus ccause usually activity like that is caused by one. karlehenry@aol.com

i have came accross this problem many many times. however the problem was different everytime...Most fo the time it was teh nic card. Have them call their support vendor for their pc to check troubleshoot the nic card, and if they dotn have a support vendor, they may need to purchase a new nic...
I have heard probloem with XP HOME authenticating to a domain, i havent actually tried. What i sugges is check the ip address ont he machines make sure they are the correct format. then remove the xp home from the domain then re ad it using the NT administrator domain account...
do a search for BOOT.INI and you can delete the entry from that file with the second selection of windows xp.

well i know in windows 2000 the command for task manager was taskmgr
but you might want to do a seacrh in windows for taskmanager or taskmgr to make sure.
i have never heard of this
first thing is first, uninstall teh video card drivers...then go to
C:\windows\INF and look for the driver that is associated withthat video card and delete it.
then reboot your computer and try to reinstall the video driver again. fi the problem persists try reformatting the comptuer one...
you may want to check to see if this program you areusing is compatiable with windows xp. there maybe a software update or patch that needs to be applied. remember XP is not 98 and wayd ifferent.
i just thought of this...after you uncheck it, their should be a box after you restart to clean the registry or soemthing like that. it will be located on the lower right or left hand side of the startup section on msconfig...try that and let me know if its their.
