I have a stack of 450s I'm maintaining through the special 'ebay replacement program'. After a recent failure I swapped in a newer switch to a hybrid BPS/450 stack, but it's a newer SW rev than the existing units and the other 450s have dropped out of the stack (stack LEDs flash, units behave as...
Modem should work, as long as the settings are 9600,N,8,1(default) and the console cable is correct.
(straight-through I think-though I use Accelars too and they're null-modem -- or is it the other way around ;-)
The switch won't be able to tell how far away you are; as long as commands are...
FYI: With the original switch problem I had, I returned the switches to Nortel. Judging by the serial#s of what came back, I guess they were replaced.
I could not get the 420 diagnostics to appear after ctrl-c was pressed. I guess the firmware was too far gone.
Si.
I have a 420 stack (2, SW: 1.1.2.1 , 1.1.2.27) that seems to be working (I can remotely ping stations attached to ports on both units, so uplink fibre and stacking seem to be working OK.)
What's happening is that the agent keeps vanishing for periods of 2 to 9 minutes, with uptime of about 30%...
Thanks. I wasn't aware of the hybrid stack setting in the switch configuration area. I've reset each of them, and added a couple more to the stack, and so far they appear to be communicating OK.
I am adding a BPS2000 to a working stack of 450s, but can't get them to stack. Cables seem OK.
Software is: 2.5.0.40 (BPS), 4.1.0.6 (450s), ISVN all 2
Switches start, and cascade up/dn LEDs light green on all 3 switches, then the 450's up/dn LEDs flash for a while, BPS2K LEDs remain steady...
I posted an earlier question, but things have got wierder.
I had a problem updating a BS-420 stack via telnet. Diagnostics upgrade failed, both switches do not boot past the 'Testing Main Memory - Passed' message.
Today, I put one on a bench, and tried the same with a console cable, TFTP...
Tried the stack solution, but it didn't work. Not sure what else to try. Is there no factory image that you can revert back to in these cases?
The 450's I seem to remember had some sort of POST routine interrupt where you could load an image by interactively entering port#, speed/duplex, ip...
I did do the stack (2), and both switches show the same problem.
I'm pretty sure they were left adequate time to update--the diagnostics image usually takes no time, and when they failed to reset, it would have taken me 5-10 minutes to walk to the building they were in.
I have my doubts that...
I just tried to update a BS-420 stack, but it failed to restart. Now it gets as far as the memory test (passed) and freezes. This was the 'diagnostics' image. Had not upgraded the software image yet.
This worked fine before on multiple units in my office (serial console). This stack was the...
Try this:
-Power up switch, with terminal connected to console port
-Interrupt POST process BEFORE agent loads (ctrl-C)
pick:
-(i) to initialize config/log flash
then run agent code or reset switch. It will be back to factory defaults.
I just tried this and it worked--I came here looking for a...
What confuses me is that I seemed to have the advanced functionality when I first flashed the 5.3.3 image onto it. I was able to do a query of attached nodes/ports. It was just a lot slower (I've noticed the same effect after updating the 350/450 switches--assumed some extra code or processes in...
Thanks, I think those addresses are where I got my images. I haven't tried the 'sa' folder, but I think they're the advanced analyzer images. I don't have a lot to lose, though (correct me if I'm wrong...)
Yes, they're old, but I need management above all else. I have a homegrown solution for...
I recently had a hub (Lattishub 2814, advanced agent 5.3.1) fail to load (flash error) so I found and tried downloading a new image to it. (5.3.3) It seemed really slow, so I backrev'd it to 5.3.1
The problem I have now is that a formerly 'advanced' agent now shows as 'standard'. Is this a...
Hi,
I am trying to connect a new Baystack 380-24T to Accelar 1100-A (x2) I have 1000SX and 1000LX modules in the Accelars and 3xSX/1xLX GBIC in the 380. When I connect the LX fibre modules, the amber RX light on the accelar goes dark (Autonegotiate enabled on both units) If I fix Accelar to...
Hi,
I am trying to work out the security features on old Lattishub stacks (2814/2803-Adv). I have worked out how to insert MAC addresses and get some basic intrusion control, but the settings seem volatile--lost after reset or power-off.
This doesn't seem to make sense-it's a lot of messing...
After a recent DHCP server hardware replacement (W2K-SP4, MS-DHCP same IP, on (A) below) users on a 450 stack (sw C, below) have not been able to renew DHCP leases. I have only one subnet (10.1.0-3.x/22) and no vlans (or all one vlan?).
If I set both ends of the link to 'trunk'/tagged, all...
Does the 'return' cascade cable of the ST1 cascade module make a performance difference or is it there only for redundancy?
I only have the one cable right now between 2 switches, and it seems to work OK, but I have no way to evaluate the performance of the cascade link (that I know of)...
I have added an 1100R-A (SW 1.3.2) to supplement an original 1100. (has 2x 1102sx GB cards, hw rev.A)
I can open it in Device Manager, but after about 30 secs, regardless of whether I'm reading/changing or leaving DM idle, the Accelar seems to drop the connection. (errors when saving/reading...
I go in through Telnet (or for some other stats, direct GET query). I noticed that through the Accelar device manager, there is no 'flooded packets' stats. Rarely use TELNET on the Accelar though--totally different UI.
I think I have satisfied myself that there was nothing wrong with the switch...
