After three days of no response to my original question, I took my concern to my sales rep with a few choice words. She forwarded my complaint to the Senior Manager of Professional Services, Systems and Programs, who emailed me asking what my beef was. I replied but not surprisingly, have...
I decided to take the required courses for Crystal Report certification. Even though I've been using the application since 1998 and consider myself at least an intermediate user, I began with the first course and am taking them all via eLearning. I found that there was a question I needed...
Does anyone know how to stop the automatic placement of both print date (in page header) and page number (in page footer) when a new report is created? I've seen this when I select 'new' and 'standard report', pick a database table(s) but do not select any fields with the wizard - when I click...
I recently installed CRvXI and would like to place the repository in a location other than the default location upon installation )of C:\Program Files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.0\bin). Documentation states that the install configures a Crystal Repository ODBC system DSN, and if you...
Can anyone answer why, in CRv9 (developer), the export to report definition is an option, but it is prompted me to insert the cd for CRv9? Is this feature part of a custom installation? And if it was, why would it be available as an export format?
Funny (ironically speaking)...my sys admin is the one who asked me if I could do this so he didn't have to configure the ODBC for each new user of the app...
This may be a silly question but do the users have the appropriate DSN's defined for the database(s) that you are attempting to access in your report? Within the ODBC configuration you can select to have the log in to the database occur using a network login id or using a specified login id for...
I am using CR8.5 developer to create and distribute reports to a set of users, each of whom has had the setup.exe run (and don't have a version of CR on their machines). I am curious if it is possible to somehow create the DSN for the applicable database(s) when I distribute new reports, just...
An additional step you may want to take (with the instructions WELLDUH provided) is to change the properties on the .crf file to 'read only'. You may run into print engine errors if you don't do this (but you may not - just advising in case you do get print engine errors when the user attempts...
Forgive me Lisa...
I went back and deleted the previous suppression formula and did a copy/paste of the formula you provided and it now works no matter which group by I do.
Perhaps there was a mis-placed '(' or ')' that was throwing off my formula.
Thanks again for your help!
If the selection to group is by department, I may have the employee listed more than once (for multiple days) and I still want to print the employee name only once. The suppression formula provided works fine for that.
The report results look like this:
(Group) Dept#/Desc
(Detail)...
I changed the suppression formula on both the last and first name fields within the detail to check for group by = employee or whether employee id = previous employee id -
If there are multiple detail records for the same employee id, the suppression works for all but the first detail line. If...
I have a report that allows the user to select several parameters and then select the group by order either by "Department" or "Employee". If they select by department, I list all employees within that department, who were absent during the parameter date range. A single employee may be in one...
Using CR8.5 I have a report with several parameters (date from/to, employee id, department and absence code), some of which I want to be optional. For example, the user must select a date range and may want to select a specific empid or department or multiple absence codes.
I tried the...
I meant that in the data explorer tree, only tables and sprocs were displayed for the selected database. I didn't even attempt to look within 'tables' for my views because...well...I was expecting to see it as its own branch.
Apologies and thanks for my maybe not-so-clear explanation of the...
I tried that too. Not even on a new report do I see anything other than tables and sprocs in data explorer, even though I have all set (tables, views, sprocs) in 'options'.
Even when I try 'set location' I still can't see views. The two existing tables I'm reporting on are displayed (and I'm not replacing either of those), and clicking on set location opens up the data explorer (and no views).
I have tried doing that. I can see and access the views in SQL Server Enterprise manager (as well as the tables and sprocs), but can't in Crystal. I thought that perhaps a database logon issue was the cause but if I can access via enterprise manager I tend to think that isn't the problem.
