Thanks for the compliment Synapse. We're not in a position to create views at this point. Any tips you have to assist me with modifying the SQL in Crystal to achieve this would be appreciated.
Turkbear, that is what I have in there. I do have a left outer join in my Visual Linking in Crystal. Synapse, thank you for your continued posts - I'm not sure what you're asking when you see how is the SQL generated? Do you mean how did I come up with that max effective date SQL syntax? I...
okay you've lost me. My joins are left outer. Here I'll post better info, sorry. Oracle database. I'm trying not to be too descriptive about our table names and such for security reasons but anyways...

Using Version 7 Crystal Reports and modifying the SQL in the report.
Table A with fields 1(key), 2, 3. Table A joins to Table B and to Table C. A.2 joins with B for a description decode and A.3 joins with Table C for a decode. There can be multiple decodes in history and obviously I want to...
Hi there. Does anyone know if the feature available in Version 10 to display the crosstab horizontally was possible in Version 7 (other than manual crosstab)?
Ken we're trying this. I want to thank you very much for your help on this as so far it seems to be the only solution to a very frustrating problem of lost functionality in most of our reports that go to Excel. Ken have you had any issues with this workaround in putting them on Crystal...
Thanks Thisisboni - the problem is the folks on the IM team can do that but we all know how limited some of the end users are out there in even the most basic Excel skills.
Ken, thank you again for you post. Would you be kind enough to direct me such a driver? Do you have a link at all?
Thanks Ken. But what if you have so many columns that you can't stretch out your text headers to display its full text? I haven't been able to get the normal excel export to work without truncating the text object. Have you?
my problem is exactly the same as the original post of this thread. I tried every suggestion in your linked article and nothing helps. I believe it is a limitation of the export to Excel feature. As a workaround if I were to choose the Data only puts a blank line after your subreport. I...
no actually it doesn't. Because then the text column headings in your page header are truncated. That is a problem when you need numerous fields on the layout and you can't stretch out every field/matching text heading.
Incognito - did this end up working out for you? I'm having a similar problem and I think it's just a limitation of Crystal now. It doesn't treat the subreports like it used to and we're screwed because all of our reports are formatted to output to Excel. We have tried everything....
What I'm saying is I've tried everything. I think it's more a limitation now with a new version of Crystal...

I am using Crystal 10 and I don't see this feature. I have a feeling we're screwed because of the nature of our user requests and the number of fields required on our output, the majority of our output has to be formatted to Excel output. I have a sinking feeling that there is no workaround...
It says you can only formulate as many in the array that you think might be entered. What if you don't know how many the user will enter, i.e. they may want to enter 1 or as many as 5 or any number.
any thoughts?
