Hi - we had this same observation at my place when we were all switched over to Excel 2007... We are heavily dependent on pivot tables here and it has been quite an adjustment. Funny enough, I downloaded the 2010 Beta at home and the functionality you are talking about has returned.

I don't know if partitioning would do it either... but it is an interesting thought.
Here are the steps from Microsoft for Vista:

The only thing I have found disastrously wrong with Excel 2007 is that Microsoft took away the pulldown filter function in Pivot Table charts. This is used extensively here and it has caused us to have to save everything where we need this function as a 2003 doc and review stats on a standalone...
Excel 2003 allowed dropdowns that remained at the top of the pivot chart so you know what you are looking at...for example (a mainframe example)... I select CPUX from the CPU filter/field and can select another filter for Subsystem.. looking at stats for each subsystem on CPUX (or all if...
Just found out this functionality was removed in 2007... but it reappears in the Beta Excel 2010. Apparently Microsoft isn't willing to patch/repair/fix 2007...
Hi... we just upgraded to Excel 2007 and some of the functionality we are used to working with in 2003 appears to have disappeared. We used to be able to drop a CPU/LPAR/Subsystem field into the top of a pivot table chart and then filter the chart to display a given element...
Thanks Chris - I talked with an SME in my company and he said that the Legend option is only available on certain types of graphs... he did say I could insert Legend code into the graph manually...
Thanks for your help!
Hi.. I am using SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1 (4.1.0.471). I am wondering if anyone has had a problem with the Legend option disappearing from certain chart types. It doesn't appear for the bar/line combo charts for me - but all the research I have done says it should. The rest of the chart types...
Thanks chilly442 - that was exellent advice! I need to now figure out how to do this in blocks of data from one sheet to another... reading about multiple cells and areas.
Thanks for the help...

On the other hand, I also have been trained in BMC Remedy...
