Foreign Configuration found on adapter (Dell Poweredge 2900) RAID 5

If two drives of a three drive RAID-5 are in missing status then OMSA should see the array as failed. Is that the case? It should be OK to import the foreign config as it's still the original disks. The array then returns to degraded. Replacing the orange flashing disk will get it back to...

    SLS messages

I see your post is nearly two weeks old now. Did you fix it? I would have suggested the long init and audit as well. If that didn't work then watch a failing mount/dismount at the LCU CCTV monitor and see what the physical symptoms are (such as cartridge fouling at entrance to tape drive). The...

    drive comm error

Drive comm error is usually an issue with the serial comms link between the drive and library controller. 1. First try re-seating the tape drive. 2. Get the drive and/or library up to latest firmware if either are downlevel. 3. This is the most likely: the drive has an internal problem causing...

    Storagetek 9310 LSM still offline

Your first action with getting a 9310 status report is to log into the LMU utiliy <UTL> envionment. Type ST DEV=0 (where the zero means LSM 0, change as required). You will get a report on the status of all important parts, either OK (which is good) or INOP (which is bad).

STK L 700 tape library robot holding the media.

Looks like it's cleared then. L700's do give some strange faults. Aside from the help you get from FSC codes, the best time to analysis problems is at time of failure, checking if it's a range of cartridges, or a specific destination column, or when unloading specific tape drives, verifying top...

STK L 700 tape library robot holding the media.

Anu6006, It's likely your L700 has a faulty hand. The 309D indicates that when the hand arrived at the slot, the cartridge present sensor is telling the controller that the hand is already empty. You can elimiate any logical software error by looping the get/put diagnostic from the LCD panel...

Upgrade STK 9310 to 450 exchanges (turbo mode)

Hello ddeblance, An independant STK maintainer cannot upgrade your 9310 to 450 exchanges (at least not in the approved way). It's done by the customer getting in touch with his Oracle sales rep, who generates a code on an internal Sun system which is based on the machine serial number. A CE...

FW for old storagetek L40 with IBM lto-3

Firmware V87G0 is available for download at the IBM support website. ITDT ver 6.0 is available for download also. The blurb on the ITDT download page says: "The ITDT Tool offers multiple functional capabilities that simplify the task of updating tape and library firmware. It is available for...

FW for old storagetek L40 with IBM lto-3

Hello, Before taking this advice, maybe wait for another poster to confirm, as I've not tried this. As I understand it, the only difference between normal IBM LTO firmware and the flavour used with StorageTek libraries is the tape drive TTI serial interface. The STK version of LTO firmware...

    How to test a L180

I don't know any way to send PDF's or other files using this forum. Hopefully the OP's library will be at the level he needs. The only way to get firmware from STK/Sun/Oracle is either buy it from them or get it for free by taking out a maintenance agreement. They just won't let you download it...

    How to test a L180

You're right R1957, 3.15 is needed for IBM LTO4. I don't have the info if HP or other LTO4 are supported with 3.15 though.

    How to test a L180

To test an L180 you need to put a barcoded DLT or LTO or STK cartridge into a user cell and run about 200 passes of the demo test, which is under diagnostics on the LCD menu. That will check the hand, cable & controller card. To check the host interace, attach it to a PC running Windows server...

    StorageTek L20 w. 2 LTO2 Drives - Driver Issue?

That's easy. Take the cartridge out the CAP. Open the drawer and fill up the L20 with your tapes. Bear in mind that a standard L20 is actually an L10. The right hand slots only work if you have the capacity increase dongle in the back. The L20 is just a dumb changer to after that its up to the...

    StorageTek L20 w. 2 LTO2 Drives - Driver Issue?

Thanks for the update. I can't believe they charged you $1380 for a device driver, well actually I can. The thieving ......!*!*!

    L40 CAP not closing

Yep. That's what was faulty - the latch. I was using the wrong name. I thought the slider was another name for the latch, but they are separate parts. The slider is just a little rail thing and was OK.

    L40 CAP not closing

Our workshop L40 had the fault. It took some abuse as it was the training machine. It was fixed when we bought another one for parts. In our case a bit plastic was broken on the carriage under the CAP, so I just replaced it. It was part number 313662701.

    L40 CAP not closing

I've had that problem before. It was the sliding mechanism under the CAP. You have to take the CAP assembly out to get at it. You won't get any help from the service guide, the CAP isn't even mentioned - you have to work out for yourself how to get the CAP out :-(

    StorageTek L20 w. 2 LTO2 Drives - Driver Issue?

OK, let me know how it goes. BTW, I've heard HP engineers advise never to connect tape drives and hard drives to the same Smart Array controller. It is recommended that the tape drives be connected to their own SCSI controller on a different slot. That may not be the cause of the immediate...

    StorageTek L20 w. 2 LTO2 Drives - Driver Issue?

If the tapes dont even show in 'other devices' then I suspect its an issue with the SCSI card not working correctly in Windows 2008. If you were to get a spare PC/Server and install Windows 2003 32 bit with the scsi card and L20 attached I bet the drives would show up.
