Hi, I managed to fix the issue, running the dcdiag command above, reviewing the logs, and then installing the dns as active directory integrated. worked a treat, new dc is now win2003... next step is to upgrade schema to 2009, and the add a windows 2008 server, as a dc. Many Thanks Yurov Ardyy
