Got a customer with AA answering all eight lines. After years of the flash working great, it then started loosing its mind (outside caller enters 227 and it transfers to 222). I reinitialzed the flash and it worked for about 6 months and the same problem came back. My question is, is the software bad or would replacing the capacitor fix the problem? I know the ultimate answer is going to a CP (which I did) but I want to see if I can revive the flash.

if it's losing memory during power failures (long ones ) is could be the bats. i have seen them do strange thing and the batteries keep programming for about 5 min but not longer

Sounds like sw card or RAM. Any electronic storage has a lifespan. Too many flips from 1 to 0, and eventually it quits.

Unless you want to tear it apart and swap components, or live with it's quirks, I'd retire it.

I never ever had a flash with DTMF issues like the old star talks. they were netoureouies for transferring to wrong ext.
I would revive with a software upgrade to 2.0 or 2.1 which ever was the latest version .
to this day i've never heard of that problem with a flash
