The PC is an AMD 64 on an Asus A8N-SLi MB with 2GB of Ram and an 80GB Hard Drive. WinXP Home Edition
All drivers and Bios have been updated to the latest versions.
I have ran every known antispyware software (AdAware, HiJackThis, Spybot, CCleaner etc etc as well as several virus detectors. I'm convinced the PC is clean.

So.... here's whats typically happening.

I booted this morning and all was well. The boot was lightening fast and programs opened and closed in a flash. CPU Useage was about 7%

I then open Photoshop CS2 and proceeded to work on about 80 wedding pictures over the course of an hour. After an hour, the PC was running so slow that I could not continue editing the pictures.
With all the pictures in Photoshop closed but with the program itself still open, Win Task Manager showed PS as using 1,217,704 of my 2GB of Ram and CPU useage was at 100%
I closed PS, did a soft boot and CPU Useage had dropped to 80%. I then turned the PC off for 4 minutes and rebooted. CPU was at 60% and very very slowly dropping.
The longer I leave the machine off, the lower the CPU Useage will be when I turn it back on.
If I look at the running processes when the CPU is running at 100%, they all show 0% CPU Useage with Sys Idle Process at 99% ( I realize the latter is a good thing)

Do you think this may be a RAM or Motherboard related problem or ????

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.
