I have windows XP installed on my computer. But the audio is not working because I do not have service pack 1. So I went to microsoft helpsite to download service pack 1. Well no problem he download it, then I had to unpack it (or something). But then my computer said I had an illegal copy of XP. Well that is true, but the original cd belongs to my brother but he does not live in the neighberhood any more. So he send me a copy of XP.So I could install XP on my computer.
Does anyone know how I can play music out of my surround set.
I have an Asus P5GDC deluxe motherboard.
Please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!! [nosmiley]

-Right click on My Computer
-Select Properties
-Choose Hardware tab
-Device Manager

What do you see under here? Is there an "X" or an "!" point on any device? If so this is just a driver issue, you'll just need to get the new drivers.

Is a good place to start looking for drivers or your sound card manufacturer.

As for needing SP1 for your sound, what makes you think this?

And, lastly, you will not be able to upgrade your version of XP because of the new security features Microsoft has implimented. SO you're kinda stuck there without going out and spending some cash to buy a legit copy of XP and installing that to your system.
