Can't load winXP

Hi everyone,

I seem to have a problem loading winXP on top on winME. Everytime I do I get this error:

"A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer."

Technical Information:
***stop oxoooooo7e (oxCoooooo5, uxfdf30509, oxfc9069e0, oxfc9066eo)

Sysaudio.sys - Address FBF30509 base at FBF2900, Datestamp 2d6de2dd
Beginning dump of physical memory.
Check vendors for any BIOS updates-disable any BIOS memory options such as Caching or shadowing.

I have no idea what the error means. How do I update my BIOS, and disable caching or shadowing, and how do I find out how to do that?

I have a Compaq computer, and I can find out more info if you need it.

Usually when you get those STOP Error Messages

This is usually caused by hardware Error. It can be bad memory. Windows XP is more sensitive to memory quality than ME. Generic memory sometimes causes problems. However, it can be any hardware, even the motherboard that can cause this error. Some older computers do not work well with Windows XP.

If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.

Are you upgrading ME to XP, or installing XP into partition with ME or something else?

Have you considered a clean install (backup & wipe the drive before installing XP)?

As ceh says, often hardware (any) error causing STOP errors, but best to start 'clean' if troubleshooting (and best to clean install XP, rahter than upgrade ME).

From your answers, I think it best to wipe the C: drive clean and then try to install XP alone.
