hello

What is the name of the key above the tab key and below the escape key?

You know the one with three lines on it next to 1.

No-one i've asked knows.

Cheers

Some of us obviously have very different keyboard layouts. My Tilde is above the <Tab> and below the <Esc>, but it doesn't fit the description given in the post, "You know the one with three lines on it next to 1." But unless I’m blind, nothing on my keyboard matches that description!

You can look here to see different keyboard layouts. It might help if you tell us which layout you have so we all know what key you're talking about.

thats the one Ken,

If it is the Tilde key, whats it's function? Is it used in programming?

Cheers

No

The tilde key is the one with ~ on it

As far as I know the ¬ key has no specific function in programming, you only use it if you want a ¬ or a ` character, just like any other "normal" key

One of our MultiLingual team has just piped up and said it is the Grave key (or accent key)
i.e. Fianc`e
Don't know how true this is as it doesn't look right here
