I am running XP Pro and use the machine mainly for gaming and occasionally for graphics editing using Photoshop 6 .
From what you say in your post I think I'll stick with the 1Gb of PC2100 memory . The computer should still be plenty fast even with the slower memory .

Try renaming the personal folder to "personal folder.pst" it may have lost this extension at some point . I recently had a similar problem with a users personal folder which had become corrupted . As far as I know Outlook 2001 doesn't have a folder repair utility like Outlook...
hi , thanks for your response . Will have a go at what you suggest . XP doesn't have the driver for this ADDTel modem I'm using so it automatically loads a generic Rockwell 56K driver , I'm presuming because the ADDTel uses a Rockwell Chipset .
Ok I've looked this up on google groups and there are hundreds of posts re XP not working properly with external modems , but no-one seems to have a fix
I have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling the modem and restarting the machine to get it to dial up succesfully . XP recognises the modem...
