I will get the config in the next couple of days. I will be away from the office until then. The recovery time improved by adjusting the timers. Because the wireless doesn't support RSTP, I was restricted to PVST+. Recovery once fibre is restored is below 2 seconds in testing.

Do you need to run seperate VLANs? If not, just run RSTP with default VLANs. We run a similar setup and adjust port priorities to give preference to the fibre link. The links don't load balance, but the fibre carries the traffic until it fails, STP cuts over to the WLAN link after about 30 secs...
Simon,
Have a look at the cisco wireless range calculator (download from cisco.com). Allows you to try different antenna gains and shows ranges with 10dB fade margins.

Hi,
I am looking into doing the wireless test. Any useful information such as sample test questions, recommended study materials????
I mainly work with 350 bridges, which I will soon be replacing with 1300s. They are used in a processor control environment, to link remote equipment to the...
Thanks for the info. I will have the switches in a ring, with stp enabled. I was concerned about the recovery time if we had a fibre break at a point in the ring. I should have said multicasting for a new path, but the loss of traffic is the major concern. So 15 secs is the answer I was really...
Hi,
if we have a network with 8 switches (3550 and nortel 450) (at 4 locations) in a ring, how long will the network take to recover from a break in the ring? I have been told a broadcast storm following the break could cause a traffic loss for up to 60 seconds. Is this likely? Any other...
Hi,
I had a job interview yesterday where they asked me how would I change which disk the paging file was kept on?
Any answers for future information would be appreciated. Also, why would you want to do this?
Hi,
I have an external modem, config file below, that I am trying to get talking to my cisco router async port. Can anyone tell me how much of the config file is relevant to the router? Is there an idiots guide to modem config files anywhere?
Thanks,
Brian...
