Hello all, I have a situation where analog phones are commonly moved abruptly, ripping the phone jack out of the wall. Does anyone know of a quick disconnect type adapter that can go inline at the wall plate to reduce this problem? Yes, I know it sounds odd, and it shouldnt be this way, but it...
Hello all. I was curious if anyone had any information available for the SSR.net boxes. Any documentation would be great. Specifically, I am curious if we can expand the memory in ours. We poll it several times a day to pull the CDRs off, but would be nice to store more if we had to. The...
I have used Adtran's OCU 45 product line a few times to move DS3 over fiber to a distant site and worked well. They have SM and MM variants. http://www.adtran.com/web/page/portal/Adtran/group/49
I use Vandyke's SecureCRT for all my terminal needs on XP and Vista and couldn't be happier. I have never connected to a Meridian system with it, but use it for telnet/ssh into servers, console into routers, ethernet switches, carrier transport equipment and dialup as well. Maybe it will be...
This has been a constant battle for us in our service area with VoIP transport and fiber to the home installations. In general, we can get faxs working tweaking the line configuration on our ONT at the customer site, and sometimes in our voice gateway. Modem dialup calls are the worst though...
Hello, I work for a regional ISP/CLEC who plans to begin deploying voice and data in one of our local markets. We are currently commissioning a MetaSwitch and plan to use Adtran Total Access 900 series IADs at the customer prem. The transport from our switch to the IAD will be VoIP, but hand...
An interesting question I was once asked was what did my home network look like. I answered that it was pretty simple, a basic Linksys broadband router and a couple of Windows desktops. At the end of the interview, he told me he'd like to have heard I was doing more interesting things at home...
A place to start on the fiber side would be the Fiber Optic Association's CFxT certification - Certified Fiber Optic Technician for FTTx (fiber to the home, fiber to the premises, fiber to the curb)

Hello, does anyone have any recommendations on a good training program for T1/T3 testing? I can do the basics of looping up remote NIU/CSU running patterns and things, but dont always know the benefits of the different patterns. Even a good flow chart would be useful.
Thanks!
This seemed to be the most appropriate forum I could find to ask my question. How do you tackle rack mounting equipment when you have to work alone? I was thinking of picking up some appropriate sized all-thread and start it in the rack at desired location, then slide the equipment on it...
Most likely, your linksys will need a route for 10.0.103.0 255.255.255.0 pointing to site A's E0. Start from the linksys and see how far you can ping things. May need a similar route for 172.16.2.0 255.255.255.0 to see the WAN interfaces.
I have a customer with a 2811 router currently. They are using both ethernet interfaces and need to add another routable interface. Will the HWIC-4ESW let me achieve this? It look'd to me like it would by assigning the IP on the VLAN interface and making the ports a member of the appropriate...
I have a customer that uses VIC-2FXS cards throughout his network for interoffice VoIP calls. These just serve lines into his phone systems at all the offices and seems to work well for him. Now, he wishes to add more capacity to the main office and is asking about T1 capabilities to the phone...
