#309 ... To quote the manual:
"This System Programming procedure determines the type of dial tone that the system provides at an extension. It may be necessary to change this setting to Machine (outside line) dial tone for an autodialing device, such as a fax or modem, that has trouble...
You can set the dialtone type to regular dialtone .. I can't remember the setting name, but it is supported for exactly the reason you mentioned (allowing modems / fax machine to recognize dialtone more easily)
As Tommy commented, you would be better if you could get away with just using one Partner system (at A), and then connecting the extensions at B back to A using a multi-pair cable!
If you don't have enough ports on one system, then you should seriously think about buying a system that WILL...
Your problems maybe that when you edit the WAV file, you might be (accidentally) changing the type of WAV. WAVs can be recorded at various sampling rates, 8-bit or 16-bit, and as mono or stereo. I don't know what type the Partner system uses, but whatever it is, you must make sure that when you...
I've had *no* problems at all using 4.0.0.8, either directly connecting to extn 76 (I have a laptop plugged into the Aux port of a system phone), or dialling in and connecting via Auto Attendant/ Hunt Group 6 (*8 then 776). Are you sure that the problems aren't related to the PC you are using...
The file Matt mentioned is probably in Dutch (xxxx-nl might indicate Netherlands, i.e. Holland), although I was unable to access the URL to confirm this. And, No, I don't speak Dutch!!!
The inner pair is used for dial tone and speech (and ringing on non-system phones). the next pair is used for system phones to signal .... hence you had the signalling connection and not the voice connection :-)
Incidentally, if you have a device such as a PC with modem connected to the AUX...
Is there any way to achieve this functionality (at present the system has Partner ACS R3 and Partner Mail VS R5) ... I was hoping that Partner Messaging might support it.
I've heard of 'Passageway' but I'm not clear about what it is / what it costs!!
Does the LAN port on the Partner Messaging module output enough information to allow a PC (with suitable software) to display details of the callers as calls are processed by the Auto Attendant?
What you suggested won't work as the Transfer Return relates to the originating extension, rather than the extension receiving the call. I've tried using Call Forward, but the call only follows one 'hop', then uses the Transfer Return setting of the 'middle' extension :-(
From some digging around that I've done, it appears that Lucent sell an RJ45 to DB25 module (355A??) which contains circuitry, rather than just being a simple conversion between connector types. Can anyone confirm this?
