Hmm, that's strange...
When I boot the PC up with the Boot CD in it I get these:
<
Boot From AHCI CD-ROM:
1. NO EMULATION System Type- 00
IsoLinux 3.86...etc
isolinux: Disk Error 05, AX = 42E6, drive 9F
Boot failed: press a key to retry...

The CD/DVD drive can't be broken aswell because I...
Good point RyanEOD, I'll take it out and reseat it when I do the Boot CD.
I might have another machine that takes SATA, (SATA is fairly new to me) will try that too.
Thanks Ryan
I'm downloading the .iso from UBCD
I use Nero and can burn .iso's no problem.
So I just boot from this UB CD I burn, then it will let me run diagnostics?
I remember in the BIOS there were no HDD's detected, and no means to detect.
I'll give this Boot CD a go and report back.
Thanks for the...
Hi,
I was passed an Acer Aspire X3200 the other day and was told it had a virus...
I booted it up, but it just hung at the Vista progess bar screen. Nothing else will happen.
I managed to have a look at the BIOS, nothing wrong there I think.
I then put an XP installation disk in to format C...
Thanks for the replies all.
I still have the above machine, but I took delivery of a laptop recently, and have transferred all my data to that. It has SATA drives, and 4GB memory - so will do for now.
Maybe I'll drag out the old Desktop on a rainy day and get it filled up with memory.
Once...
Hi, I've looked around and cannot seem to find a specific solution to my problem.
I hope someone can help!
I have a 50MB .psd file (photoshop CS2) that has 6 layers (basic line drawing, text layer, filled blocks...) and everytime I open it it takes 5-10 minutes to open! Then after the widow...
Hi,
I'm not very experienced building websites, but the site I just built (and am still building) www.lowplainfarmhouse.com.
The problem is with how the text places itself in either browser, it aligns to the left with no probs in Firefox, but when I load it in Internet Explorer 7, the text has...
OK, I used CPU-Z on the processor, and it still shows up single core P4@2.8GHz. Interesting little program there, good for checking the spec's on a processor.
Hmm, the P4 running here is running fine, I've tweaked the memory, but still wanna get another gig (only got 1GB at the moment)
Update...
Right, and update for the thread...
Long story short, I ended up swooping in on a lot on ebay that said it contained a dualcore@1.6GHz, a core2duo@1.8GHz, one processor installed on an ASrock P4vm800 mobo. There was also a DVD/CDR/RW, 1GB Memory, 350W powersupply, floppydrive, video card...
Ahhh, good point!
A major oversight on my part, thanks for bringing it up.
Yes, it's AGP4x - a GeForce 6200, 256MB, DDR2...
Depending on the board I get, there seem to be some GeForce onboard graphics that sem to be better than the GeForce6200.
but, depending on the mobo I get, and the price...
Wow, I love this place! =)
K, I'll probably keep away from that second one, thanks for the heads up. In comparison, I should've noticed the inferior hardware, as I really am warming to this Core 2 Duo thang!
I've emailed the guy about the heatsink/fan, but if I win it for a decent price, then...
Hmm, this looks good, has SATA & IDE (UDMA66 support for the ATA133 HDs I have), comes with 4GBDDR2, 2.66Ghz Core 2 Duo, PCI2.2 slots & 2 x PCI-Ex16 slots.
Great for expansion...
