This is NO way a sure fire answer to your question, but try disabling the Service called "Messenger" in the Administrative Tools? I know that it states that it is Server-Client based, but I'd be interested to know if this also handles the local events/messages...
Our AD has numerous scripts setup as "swabs" descibes, and we use solely VB Scripts... if you know how to write them, you can practically tell their PC to wipe thier nose for them with a good script!
Anyway, I would have to say that SWABS description was best, and that VBS is better than...

You want only the local admin account to be able login to the server? Or do you only want people/accounts to be able to login when seated at the Console/KVM?
My interpretation is that you have multiple Local Users that login via Terminal Services/Remote...
Also, please remember to check out what removing a trust will do to your Domains... removing a Trust is not for the light hearted, unless the removed domain is no longer used. (You could always re-add the trust later.)
Completely agreed on that one... Trusts are usually setup for a purpose, so find out why the Trust was formed, etc. before implementing this move.
Just to be clear on my point though, the ONLY way to remove domains from the Login screen is to remove trusts... I have researched extensively...
Depending on how many, what type, and how they are related, it will vary. For example, my users get three items in the drop-down list...
Domain1 - A.D. Domain
Domain2 - NT Domain
Machine Name - Local Machine
If we wanted to remove Domain2 from the list, we would have to go to the "Active...
I have experienced the same issue at my site, however, I have been told by pretty much all the experts I know that it is impossible if your old NT Domain is Trusted by the AD Domain. If you remove the trust, then you should be ok.
