Only way to go, install disk with SP3, IE8 & WMP11 integrated (via nlite.) Been using that for years - some of my customers still want XP even on new machines. Also IMO, end of support will make no difference to xp users at all (and at least MS are now providing updates for Security Essentials...
If I remember rightly, usb 1.1 operates at 12 mbps - so even 72 would be impossible if its using a 1.1 port. Is this speed (72) as reported by the device (as opposed to actually running a speed test on the connection?) I've found such reported speeds are often spurious!
Sorry Sympology 8 & 8.1 is simply more awkward to use in native form. And I never want full screen apps that obscure everything else - ok on a phone or tablet (apple or android, NOT windows naturally.) Start8/modernmix combo makes it more usable. Most of the apps I use are in a toolbar on the...
Probably a bit late. You can load win7 on any machine running win8. In fact if you build yourself or have built a tower you can generally install xp! (motherboards still come with xp drivers.) As well as the 2 win8 conversion apps, there's start8 and modernmix from Stardock. As far as I am...
Some personal emails from his inbox which are very important to him (in my attempt, I selected just his inbox to restore.) As I said I'm not a symantec exec or exchange expert - it looked to me that you would need to restore to a machine with exchange installed to be able to access said emails...
I have a customer who is trying to recover some emails from a tape backup. The original machine (which he does not have access to or much knowledge of) is not available. He thinks it was running something like windows 2000 server and he doesn't know what version of exchange server. The backup...
I've never yet seen any significant improvement in performance from defragging ntfs filestore. As far as I can see it just takes time and resources, and occasionally causes a problem.
just my 2p
Your original problem will have been a hardware issue of some sort - so if you're only replacing the motherboard & keeping the other components, you may still have a problem! (mobo may have been it, but my money would be on the RAM).
As to moving installation between boards, agree with other...
You could still do with checking out the drive - run the manufacturer's diagnostic (unless its a toshiba drive - they don't have one - or didn't last time I checked. In that case you could use seatools for windows or the hitachi dos based disgnostic). If the drive's ok, you should be able to...
I don't know about paragon software (last used it over 5 years ago), but I use Acronis True Image, which has successfully enabled me to rescue similar situations to yours. Use it to make an image of your disk - when it encounters the bad blocks it should warn you with options. Just tell it to...
Agreeing with Roger & Freestone - needs clarification and does sound like hardware issue - apart from PSU the motherboard is also likely culprit.
As to win7 upgrade - why? What will win7 give you that xp doesn't? (because even if your machine is up to it, it will take a fair few hours to...
I suspect you'll have to live with it - I've seen this with various external drives & machines - most machines will boot with drive attached, usually one won't - I've one connected to this machine! (ie, I think its just an unfortunate combination of your machine & the external drive). Unless...
