I've upgraded my network to windows server 2008, and i have one remaining windows server 2003 domain controller, which i wish to demote to just be a member server.
I've run the dcpromo to remove this, but the system keeps telling me that i dont have permission because of the "Enable computer...
Hi there. I'm currently running a network with the IP range 10.0.0.1 to 10.0.3.254, with around 200 devices on the network.
We are implementing a VOIP PBX and have been advised that we should set this up using a VLAN to separate and prioritise the voice traffic on the network.
I have 2x HP...
I've just bought an external HP Ultrium SCSI tape drive. I'm plugging this into a HP Proliant ML370 server. Question is simple - do i have to shut the server down to connect the drive up?
Apologies if it's a stupid question - have been in the IT industry for 16 years but i've never had to use...
An interesting theory but i have checked the permissions and the user has full access to the folder. And of course, if i put files in the folder he can read and access them so it's not that :-S
Thanks for your reply - i'm pretty sure it's not a permissions issue though, as the file *does* copy - the user has full access to the appropriate folders etc.
I'm probably going to swap out the computer, i'm sure that will fix the problem - just doesn't get to the root of it!

I'm having a problem on one of my Windows 7 PCs, when the user copies a file into a network folder, that computer cannot see the file once it has been copied. Hitting refresh, coming out of the folder and going back in - nothing makes it appear. I can copy the file into the folder again and...
Thanks for the replies... the server is virtual so the option of having two nics isn't really a problem.
I wonder if i could fix this using some of the hyper-v networking facilities, though i'm more out of my depth here - i'll certainly take a look...
I'm running a network where i have 2 ADSL lines to access the internet, on each of the ADSL lines i have static IP addresses which i can map to internal servers.
I have a web server which is set up as 10.0.0.9 on our internal network. I have two domains set up as so:
server1.domain.com which...
Hi that isn't quite what i was trying to ask (sorry for being a bit unclear!). I've got things set up like this at the moment:
A mail1.domain.com 10.10.10.10
A mail2.domain.com 10.10.10.20
I dont mind using it like that, however when i try to connect to:
https://mail1.domain.com it...
I'm running an exchange 2003 server, and I have two routes to the internet via different providers. I can set up routes inbound so that users can access the mail server via https from either of the two internet connections, but only one of them at a time. The route to the internet has to be...
We're not using an access gateway at the moment, all the servers and users are on our internal network, there is no access inbound from the internet.
Thanks
James
I'm currently running a small Citrix PS 4.5 system one server with 50 users. I'd like to introduce a second server for two reasons, one for redundancy and two so that we can further increase our number of users.
I'm looking for some tips on the best way to go about this - at the moment all of...
Brilliant - thats sorted out the problem for me.
Not entirely with you on the use of the disk as a failover though - do you mean if i set up a couple of VMs which both access the same iscsi target?
Thanks
James
I'm using Windows Server 2008 R2 as a Hyper-V machine, i have a couple of iscsi disks attached to the machine. I am using a virtual machine set up in Hyper-V connecting with a drive set up as a physical drive.
When i restart the host server, it puts the physical drive that i'm using for the VM...
