perhaps, you may try turning the desk base upside down on the wall and using the short [ i forget, 8 or 12 inch ] d8 cord. [ assuming that you're using the 630b.]
this choice would cost the user the quick reference card tray, but they may seldom use it anyway.

the current release number is part of the autobackup file name on the pcmcia card.

by any chance,
if auto backup to pcm card was in use, you should have two usable restore files.
software versions of replacement processors must match the backup file.

i suggest that this is a thinking problem. consider the relationship between caller id delay and auto attendant answer/queueing/holding actions.
it sounds like the call is winding up on system hold in error. possibly requiring but missing caller id to transfer.
