I have had problems with the novell client on windows. you may want to try microsoft novell client instead. You can add it were you set your nic card properties. Just add a client and configure it as needed.

You probley have a internet browser hyjacker that change your settings. Try install ad-aware and updating its definitons then runing a full scan. Also spybot and spyblaster are other good anti spyware/hyjacking programs.

You can make a new connection under network and dial up connections and set the settings as you would need them to connect at home.

I doubt it was ad-ware that is causing the problem. But, if it was caused by somthing it removed then you should be able to undo it by selecting the Quarantine list and selecting the lastest quarantine and restoreing it.

have you tried runing Sfc you may have a corrupted system file that is causing the hardware not to show.

is your user with non admin rights a guest account? If so then it dosnt save any changes you make with that account (hadware/software settings)

try epsons website for manuals and troubleshooting of error codes. it will atleast tell you what the error light is supposed to be indicating.
