go to www.downloads.com and do a 'data recovery' search for 'zero assumption'.
it should see all the files on that drive.

fastest way i know of copying an entire drive is
www.xxcopy.com
freeware that works just fine, but follow the readme
i've used it to dupe about 6 or 7 drives now
www.freshdevices.com
i use their fresh diagnostic and fresh UI
i do not use their fresh downloader (had problems, it wouldn't down load their own upgrade, so i stopped using it)
stop using 'sleep' mode and i'd bet your problem goes away. sleep/hibernation reduces power to you system. electronic power up is not instantantious, it takes awhile to get to 100% (some electronic parts takes five minutes or more to get to full power, i.e. resistors).

i checked that and it shows the correct drive, "G" in this case because i have two harddrives and the second is partitioned.
see how much fun this is?
the last time i played a dvd it worked fine, now it doesn't see the dvds. i've tried intervideo, pc friendly or whatever and windvd. nothing.
in between dvds i've installed roxio 5 that came with my cd-rw and udf files.
i'm on win ME
anybody know any regedit tricks to get this back?
the dvd...
your CD may be scratched. CAB(inet) files are accessed during setups and when the system is looking for new hardware drivers. it doesn't need CAB files to bootup after installation. it should not be trying to open CAB files everytime you bootup.
when i install windows os, i format the drive...
