Just a quick question...
We are about to upgrade our Exchange database from 2000 to 2003. Currently Backup Exec v9.1 is being used to back this database up. What needs to be done, if anything, to ensure the new exchange will be backed up?
Cheers,
Iain
On several occasions I've had the usual CRC errors, and have been able to remedy them with new tapes, cleaning the tape heads etc etc. Now however, I have a very strange re-occurring CRC error.
I am running BE 8.5 on Windows NT with a robotic library with 2 tape drives in. On this particular...
May not the case with you, but I whenever I ran a full backup (rather than an INC) the job engine crashed with a similar error. Eventually I found the problem to be not enough free disk space on the backup server. When doing a full backup over several servers it seems BE needs a large amount of...
Its backing up a unix server where OFO isn't an option. And at 3 in the morning there is no one using the files.
I have just had another server on the same backup machine fail for the same reason, so I'm starting to suspect its something to do with the backup server, rather than the servers it...
Nope, there are no alert messages, event viewer shows nothing, the job hostory shows nothing out of the oridinary, yes I am allowing overwrite, yes there is plenty of space left on the tapes.
There is nothing to suggest anything is not working properly apart from the fact that the backup stops...
Unfortunately a corrupt file isn't the problem because it doesn't stop at the same place each time. It stops in a directory, but not at any file i.e. when clicking on progress BE gives the folder its currently in, but shows no file. Sometimes it will sucessfully backup this folder, but other...
I have been trying to run a backup of a SCO unix box. However, whenever it get to a certain directory it just stops. It doens't fail or anything, but just sits on that directory doing nothing. The only reason I can think of is that the directory in question has almost 30,000 1KB files in and...
Yeah, but I have over 100 servers backed up each night, and would like a simple to read layout describing the success or failure of each one. Because we host I will also need to extract some of the relevant information to send to clients
Heres a very general question that I doubt anyone can help with, but its worth a try...
I'm trying to write a VBscript that access the SQL database made by backupexec v9.1 to extract logfile information and email to myself so I can quickly see what failed and why after the backups run. Has...
Very interesting forum this...
Just a quick question. I have BEWS 8.5 at the moment. Would you recommend upgrading to 9.1?? After reading these posts I'm not so sure anymore
Iain
I have been running backup exec 8.5 on windows NT backing up unix servers for some time now with no problems. However, the last few times, when I check on them in the morning, the backup job is still running, but not actually writing anything to disk.
It is not hanging on the same file each...
Errm, I not too sure on my version of BEWS. How do you check? (Sorry, just been thrown into a job using Backup Exec, still not too sure whats going on)
And yes, the test email did send fine
Iain
After much scratching of head, I finally figured out how to send an email to confirm when a job has finished rather than the whole server (Schedule -> email notification etc etc). Clicking on send test email confirmed that I've got the correct email address and everything is working as it should...
