The symptoms are as you say but it is difficult nailing the cause as the dial up screen is ever present.

Try this:-
Read both files into vars.
Compare the first 13 chrs of each update file with the first 13 chrs of the master file (nested FOR loops).
Append any matches by splitting the update file(substr) and adding the result to the end of the master file.

Thanks for the replies. The issue is really one of who can view the applets as a default setting. Many people are wary of allowing additional programs to run on their machines so may be reluctant to download the plug in.
