    OT: remotely controlled FTP client

Hi, I was wondering whether somebody knows about a ftp client that can be controlled via network (or better via Internet). It should listen on a specific port so I could connect to it and order it to download files. Ideally with a planned download schedule and the connection should be...

Ever wonder what XP is doing while you search the internet

    1) I got to admit I have never used that Windows Search tool - Windows Commander's "find files" works fine. And as I think about it, I have actually never used Windows Explorer since Wincommander came to me :-) 2) My opinion is that connecting to the net without third-party firewall...

    PC2PC connection through IEEE1394 (Firewire)

If you mean laplink over parallel port, I don't think it can maintain the speed of Firewire (cca 50MBps) since it supports speeds only up to 4Mbps. I'm looking for this mainly because of the speed.

    Xp hangs during shutdown

Probably it's because of WinXP has to do much more things on shutdown than for example Win9x/Me (like shutting all services, closing all connections to net, etc.) I have a dual boot to Win98SE + WinXP and as win98 are down in a second, it takes WinXP some 30-40 seconds to shut down. Probably...

    PC2PC connection through IEEE1394 (Firewire)

I have found an alpha version of driver for Linux on ieee1394.sourceforge.net, but are there any drivers for WinXP (or are the bundled drivers fine for this)...

Good morning everyone, I work fo

Well, if that happens to audio CD's, I don't think is because of bad laser alignment just because regular audio CD's aren't burnt, they are pressed (hope this is the right English term for it). Anyway, did you make sure they aren't covered with a cd protection method called Cactus DataShield...

Which modem to buy: external USB or serial?

I'm planning to buy a modem and I have already decided for an external one. I don't know whether to buy USB connected or the one with serial connection to the computer. USB is a modern way, I know, and there's the fact that USB modem doesn't need external plug to electricity as it's fed by the...

Problem with 3com hub when clients logging onto network

We're running a complete Novell 4.xx network and client computers are equipped with Win95/98. When they are logging onto the network, an error message "No route to the server could be found" appears. On the Novell Knowledgebase we've found a solution: swap out the hub and it'll be...
