nevermind. The problem was windows 98. there was a missing .vxd file. once that was installed it recognized the modem. Thanks- velvet

I have installed both a PCI modem and an ISA modem in this computer. Both times I try to dial in I get this error msg.<br>Error 630: The computer is not recieving a response from the modem. Check that the modem is plugged in and if necessary, turn the modem off and then...- velvet

Window is really slow booting up on a laptop
I have a ton of Dell's and all the laptops do this. Try disabling the autoprotect on start up for the A drive. Also try a flash bios upgrade from the Dell website.- velvet

Win98 hangs when shutting down
Disable drive A: auto protect virus scan on boot up. Big problem with my Dell's and Norton.- velvet
