Do you have a /usr/local directory in your current environment? If you don’t this is the cause of your problem. When you move to AIX 5.1 it uses /usr/local as a working directory. /usr/local cannot be a link either. Let me know….Vantandem

Check to make sure you select to mount the directory when the server restarts. You can find this by running smitty nfs and check the characteristics of the NFS file-system.
I believe it is possible, but IBM does not support it. I believe that the SSA adapters are bootable. One way to find out is; if you boot in maintenance mode it will search a boot device, if you see your SSA address scroll by then it may be possible. Just test it.
