    Newbie question: Time formatting

Hi, I'm an Access switcher so bare with me please. I have a form where the user enters the four digit time. In Access I could use an input mask so the person could type "1415" and it would change to "14:15". I can't figure out how to do that here. I see where it says format time as hhmm...

    Time formatting

Hi, and thanks for your response. I guess I just want the user to put in a four digit time code "1532" and have FMP re-format it to "15:32". MS Access can do this, but how do I do it in FMP?

    Time formatting

Hi, I'm a newbie so forgive me if this is easy. I am trying to format the time field in a layout. I went to the options in the field property and set it to "hhmm" with a ":" separator. It is showing up "1535:00". I don't . I have the other settings to 'none'. I can't figure out how to make it...

Front end - disconnected from back end.

I have had a couple of problems in the last few days. My people go to turn on the database and it acts as if it doesn't exist. I didn't think it was Access, as it would go through start up (two splash screens). But when it went to open the first form connected to a back end table, that was...

Two separate crashes over a network... strange message.

Hi. I administrate two different databases in two separate locations. Yesterday I was called for a strange error which said something to the effect, "unrecognizable format..." basically saying that the front end disconnected from the back end. Or at least I think that's what it is. Today I...

FMP 7 Developer... Run-Time, Kiosk mode, and a network.. questions

Hi, I am currently weighing the options of changing a MS Access database to FMP. I read on another post that a run-time application will not work over the network, leaving you to purchase indivdual copies of FMP7 for every terminal. If this is the case, I don't see the point of a run-time...

New Switcher from MS Access... I'm Lost!

Sorry it took so long to reply. What I do currently in Access is basically print out (on demand) reports based on days. I use queries to single out a day, for instance. Also, I use queries to find all records in category X, or sum all numbers within category X.

Opening an external (Word) file from a button.

Hi, I have a container field where I will place a Word File. How do I set up a button to open it? I thought I could double click on it, but no dice. I then tried to create a button and chose 'open file', but when I hit the button it goes to try to open a file on my computer. I just want...

Problem with Query after I re-link table.

Hi, I recently had trouble with a database, and so I imported the table into a new table. I go to run a query from the new table in the new database and the query stops where the old data ends. The data is based on the date, so the last date is the day I imported it. I see the new data is...

New Switcher from MS Access... I'm Lost!

Hi, I'm trying to figure out FMP for the first time. In access, writing queries was simple, just open and start a new query, I can't even figure out where to go in FMP. Can some one point me in the right direction?

    Autonumbering problem!!! Help!!!

As for now, I am going to change the table and add a field for a manual invoice number. To do this I will simply create a new database and import all the old data, then add the field.. .I'll have to modify the form a little for the manual input.. and then train the staff, but I think it'll work...

    Autonumbering problem!!! Help!!!

Maurie, I have about 8 different tables. The big one currently has 35,000 records, but that one doesn't matter because the issue of missing records, deleted records is not that important. The other ones are. They currently have about 730 in one, 512 in another, 179 in another, and 120 in the...
